the insurance company is offering 33% of the value for a 3 year old vehicle. Bit gutting i know bearing in mind the mileage but as you say "that was your dad's choice" and as we all know "vehicle value drops dramatically as soon as it's driven off the forecourt".

So is it such a bad offer after all?

    33% ???

    That's what it's lost.

Spelling matters. 33% of the value, or 33% off the value. Big difference.

There was no signs of forced entry of the vehicle (no glass on the driveway) so I'm relatively sure it was stolen by cloning the key... Pretty disgraceful that a car of such high value is unprotected against such attacks. Additionally, I read that a simple software update could have easily prevented this, yet even though the car was serviced twice by BMW, they failed to do so, or even asked if we'd like the software updated!

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the "PCO scheme" is?

    Gap or RTI?

Gap pays the difference between the insurance settlement and the outstanding finance.
RTI pays the difference between the insurance settlement and the cost of a brand spankin' new equivalent.

Replacement GAP they call it which would seem to cover new for old

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Any chance of you posting a link to the Ts & Cs, because that sounds - frankly - unbelievably good value.

It is with gapinsurance.co.uk the terms and conditions are on there. The prices seem fairly comparable when you compare them on the which page about replacement gap and obviously an X6 costing 2x what mine cost would be more

That does indeed appear to offer that, and that does indeed sound very good value.
