Vodafone took 30 months extra installement from me

Heyy Everyone:... Just wondered if any can Direct me to the right direction.. I had a Vodafone contract since 2011 nd of course after 2 years -- like most of us do -- I ve upgraded it into different Network... so cancelled the old contract at July 2013...
But it looks like they were still taking the money afterwards i ended up paying 30 months of installment on something I don t have... when I rang to get some answers and a reimbursement ... --as u can imagine-- they were just passing the ball from one department to another... In the end they were saying they can only reimburse 6 months not the full 30 months...
Did anyone had any similar problem ... Does anyone know where I can take this.. baring in mind I have all proofs of Direct debit nd proof when I rang to cancel... ???

  • Proof of when you rang isn't proof of notice to cancel. Let's hope it's more compelling than the fact you didn't notice the direct debit going out for nearly 3 years.

Unless the WRT can help (see main thread) I'd give notice and cancel now to stop the future rot.

IMO the best and safest way to cancel is to get a PAC and use it, even if it's to a PAYG SIM you toss in the bin.

I guess the OP could try the Direct Debit Guarantee, but that might lead to Vodafone scribbling negative things on their credit report if they think the money is owed.
  • Somehow I doubt that would recover money paid out regularly dating back 2.5 years - and would definitely result in a wrecked credit file for the next 6 years if it did recover any at all.

Your direct debit just proves you were paying your bill (and should have been noticed within 2 or 3 months by the average person).

You say you have proof you rang to cancel? Did you record the phone call? Or how do you have proof you rang to cancel and not to perform some other action on your account?

Unfortunately you just might have to write most off it off as a payment for financial education, you have probably learnt you need to check your bank account at least monthly. Try the WRT method, you might get the most recent payments refunded out of goodwill.

Just remember, without proof almost 3 years later, you are at fault, not Vodafone, you need to approach the issue with that mindset.
