It seems you need to wait 3 months to open the regular saver. I had the same problem after opening the Flexdirect,

Not the case with the Flexdirect.

That's what it tells me when I try to apply

I've just been on their website to check eligibility and your are right in that it does not state you need to make a payment for three months, but when I try to apply (and I've done it twice), it says I need to make £1000 payments into my Flexdirect account before I can open the Flexclusive.
I think I need to go to a branch

Have you tried the link posted by xylophone in post 7 above?

    It worked for garfield33.

I've rang them. It seems because I had only just opened the Flexdirect and was applying online for the Flexclusive, there was something not in the system not recognising the Flexdirect.
I am told I should be able apply successfully now
  • How long did the FlexDirect take for you folks? I was accepted 2 weeks ago, have been to a branch with ID but still no card or log-in details. Attempts to put a test payment into the account number and sort code I've been given result in a bounceback

My account number, sort code and login details came within 4 working days, but it was the card reader that took 10 workking days

Yeah, I've got the account number, customer number & sort code (that came a week ago). Nothing since.

I was able to get the online banking going when the Debit card was dlievered prior to the Card Reader arriving, as I was able to use a Natwest Reader, although it did not let me set up a SO on the Nationwide account, and had to wait for their reader
  • Same as Crag30 - card, PIN, log-in info arrived within a week, card reader took a few days longer (though I used a card reader from another bank the other day accidentally and it also worked).

I seem to have two customer numbers though, and I think I unintentionally requested another pass number when trying to set up online banking... TBH I found it all a bit confusing compared to other banks' systems but I think it's all sorted now
