Hi all
I recently ordered a dress and skirt on an online clothing boutique, which was delivered to me. I took the delivery in a rush as I was about to leave the house, and signed for it. Upon returning home I noticed there were in fact 2 parcels (one quite small one larger) which was a bit odd as I only ordered 2 small items. Both were however addressed to me and with my address on. I opened both. One had 4 additional items and an invoice clearly made out to someone else in a completely different city to me. And in a completely different size so no good to me anyway
I taped the package back up, marked return to sender and asked my postman to take it with him the next day. Thought nothing more of it.
I have now received an email from the company (about 2 weeks later!) saying please can I let them know when they can collect the extra parcel from me, and if they don't hear from me they will "have no option but to debit your account for the value of the additional goods". I am now panicking, as I have emailed them back to say I actually returned the package to them. However I have no proof of sending, and am worried as surely they should have received it back by now?
I just wanted to know what my rights are? And can they actually charge me (I actually paid through paypal) without my authorisation, and for something that was not my mistake? Any help appreciated.

Can you tell us which website you made the purchase from?0 -
You haven't really gone about this the right way. Marking return to sender, not telling the company anything before this and just handing to your postman (I'm surprised he even took it...)
You should have messaged the company letting them know of the mistake and asked them How they would like the item returning.0 -
Yes... I realised after receiving the email from the company that I didn't deal with it quite correctly and haven't done myself any favours. I just didn't have the time to deal with it any other way at the time. Hindsight is a !!!!!! But whats done is done, and it was their error to begin with.:(0

It was Honey Boutique
Sorry, I need more help with identifying your seller.
Was it http://www.honeyz.com?
Was it perhaps a facebook seller?0 -
Since when have the delivery postmen accepted parcels to be returned? Is this some special arrangement you have with the postie.
It certainly is not normal Royal Mail practice. Do you have a regular delivery postman, have you asked him what happened to the parcel?
I think what will happen next will depend on the value of the missing parcel. To try and prevent them raising a claim with pay pal I would e-mail the company and pay pal explaining what happened.
If the missing parcel is high value, then the firm might pursue you for the money, after all you signed for receipt of the goods and you have no proof of return.0 -

No its not a "special arrangement". We've had the same postman for years, and he's helpful, it's not the first time he's taken a return for me. I haven't come face to face with him since last week but hopefully will see him tomorrow. But that's not the point of my post... Just wanted some insight into what I could do next.
Unfortunately I did sign for receipt of goods, not realising one of the packages was not meant for me! (it was addressed to me on the outside!) Also since it was addressed to me, and I did sign for it (as I WAS signing for a delivery from them to begin with) how do they know/can they prove I signed for the extra package, and not just mine? Invalid I know but just irks me that they made a mistake and I'm being penalised for it (and yes before anyone jumps down my throat which I am sure someone will - as I have said before I do realise I could have gone about sending it back better, but wouldn't be in this situation in the first place if they had sent it to the right person!)
I just wanted to know if they could charge me for it without my consent, thats all.0
