Hi,
unsure if this needs to go here or under techie.
I have a tv / dvd combi which will not power on, no led indicator when plugged in. Does any one have any ideas?
I have tested the fuse.
I have taken apart and nothing is obvious eg bulging or black marks. - However i understand that some capacitors may not be obviously bulging unless you know EXACTLY what you are looking for.
This had to previously be repaired (under warranty) about 8 months ago for a fault with the inbuilt dvd player - had fun arguing that one with the company! It is out of warranty, and doubtful I can request the company to fix even with "reasonable length of time" regarding electronic use.
I have tech experience and am happy to replace one of the boards if i can work out which it is. Maybe the bottom one which appears to take the power and feed the power led? Id prefer not to replace every one as frankly it is not worth that, I understand that it is not easy to guess the problem.

Bush is just a house brand of Argos, so these combo units could be sourced from anywhere, including Vestel. If you can fix it yourself, great, but otherwise as you state they are simply too low value to be worth spending any money on otherwise. I'm amazed they were even able to fix it under warranty, you have no chance once it's out of warranty. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
