Cast Iron downpipe for guttering - does it contain Asbestos?

The reason why is I asked the guttering to be replaced and one of the guttering experts said I should have it replaced with a plastic one but they can't take the pipe away because it contains Asbestos.
I am a bit confused on what to do. Is it expensive to remove?
Your local council will collect if properly bagged up for a small fee.0 -
OK thanks.
I am really new to this stuff so when builders / workmen tell me stuff that it should be removed I tend to believe their advice.
I know you can get rogue advice hence why I am double checking here.
1) If it contains asbestos as they said it might, is this a problem if it's contained?
I mean the pipe isn't leaking or anything so I don't see a problem.
2) Also roughly speaking how much could a council charge for taking it away?0 -

if you leave it alone, it's not a problem even if it contains asbestos. It's only a problem if you break it, remove it, scrape it, mess with it.
if it's not leaking, you don't need to do any of those things!

correct

You can get reproduction 'cast iron' pipe in plastic or cast aluminium.
Real cast iron is now expensive.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
If the pipe isn't leaking, why have you had experts looking at your guttering? Is it possible that the guttering just needs clearing or some minor repairs rather than replacement? Remember the 'experts' have a motivation for telling you stuff needs to be replaced rather than repaired. Anyone who suggests replacement rather than repair is immediately under question in my book.0

Will they all do it? Mine does (and they do it for free as long as you're within the limits and follow the guidelines) but I'm fairly sure that wasn't the case in either my previous LA or the one where my mum lives.0
