O/S Daily Friday 19 February 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, but looks frosty and cold.
DH up and getting ready for work, he woke me and I can't get back to sleep, so am now enjoying first cuppa of the day, but a rather early one! DS1 will wake shortly and get ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him later.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, beans and toast, tonight will be something easy and chips/jacket potato.
Wasn't particularly productive yesterday just couldn't summon any motivation, did manage to get all the washing done, so until last night the dirty wash basket was empty, everything that was washed was dried too, and everything sorted, so there is a pile of ironing to do, hope to get that done later this morning once I get back from shopping. Today's going to be a bit of a running around day - I'll be heading to the SM first thing, then I have an appointment middle of the day, and DS1 has said could I meet him in town straight after work as his phone seems to be giving up the ghost and he needs to get a new one - the existing one is set up on a DD from my bank - we were trying to think how old the phone was - we're thinking 4+ years as we bought it for him when he was at school! He uses it but he's not a prolific user - so he'll have a look and see what he wants, he'll be buying the phone and paying the bill himself now he's working (although he has been giving the money each month for the bill with his board money). I'm really interested to see what he goes for, I'll be speaking to them also about mine as my contract runs out in early May and I'm considering switching to a sim only contract as there's nothing wrong with the phone and I only really use it to text photograph and telephone calls for boys hubby and family to get in touch if needed. I'll get them to check DS2's contract too whilst there as both boy's were on a 1 year sim contract - I think they both will have come to an end.
Will endeavour to be more productive today - would like to try to get some cooking/baking done later today.
Have good Fridays' everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.
Gosh nmlc, that's an early start. I hope you managed to nod off again.
I was in a lovely deep sleep and only woke because of my bladder, so annoying. Don't know if I can get back to sleep now.
It's odd that the highlight of yesterday for me was getting a new vacuum, and that I immediately tried it out. I can remember with absolute horror when a dear ex of my offered to buy me an ironing table for my birthday one year. My attitude to his idea drove him to buy me a litre bottle of gin instead. And now I end up being chuffed with a domestic machine - how times have changed.
Today I need to stay in for a delivery though I suspect it'll not come until Monday because of our delivery company. The main couriers sub- contract the work out so it's normally slower by a day.
My day then will be doing a thorough clean downstairs now that the messy building work is finished. I can see a thin layer of dust everywhere still, it must have been in the air after the last one so this time I'll use a damp cloth. Riveting day ahead!
Still,it's Friday and I wish everyone a good one.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It doesn't feel so cold here this morning so I have left the heating off for a while. Everyone is still asleep so I can just put a cardi on if I get too cold.
I've just made myself a cup of tea but the milk was lumpy :eek::eek:. I suppose it has been well over a week since I bought my milk as I haven't been having cereal in the morning to use it up. Anyway, I will have to have a hot vimto instead.
Tesco is delivering today but the girls will put it away for me. I've bought them a couple of treats so I will be popular this morning. Can't decide what to make for tea though. We had 'if-it's' last night as in if it's in the freezer or fridge to use up. DD14 cooked it all with a bit of instruction from the sidelines but she did a great job.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all. It feels milder this morning but we have a day of two halves forecast - fine this morning, rain this afternoon. I have been sleeping a bit better just recently but last night I was back to tossing and turning and getting up at silly o'clock, grr!
It's the usual Friday clean round for me today. Can't contain my excitement! I actually cleared the ironing yesterday afternoon after looking at the basket for a week!
We got the caravan site annual bill yesterday. I don't know how we managed to use all that electric last year when we were there so little. I'm sure someone plugs into our meter when we are not there! Mr TA was so off it last summer we never stayed there from the end of June and DD and Co didn't go much either so it's odd.
I made pasta carbonara for tea yesterday, using the remains of the left over gammon. It was yummy. For a smallish joint it's fed us for quite a few meals since I cooked it on Sunday! Today's meals undecided as yet, will have a freezer delve shortly.
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Looks like a nice bright day in the brewing, yesterday was glorious it was very spring like and almost warm ! Of course this meant that work was heaving ! Off there today too last day before a couple of days off and my god I need them !
Tonight will be takeaway and mucho wine nothing too much planned for the weekend will be taking it quite easy.
Need to do a wash tonight ready to hopefully hang out tomorrow if the weather is nice enough.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
Chilly this morning with more rain so the washing is inside again. Need to put a white wash on when I get home. DW emptied and on my second pot of peppermint tea.
Need to try and get a doctors appt some time, I keep getting tummy ache and can't decide if it's worse when I eat or not.
RR - Enjoy your days off when you get them.
Gers - Have fun with your new vac!
BB - Hope you feel better soon.
Off for a shower now, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Another rough night for me but hey am up and have a cup of honey, lemon and ginger.
It's cold and frosty this morning, really want to get over to see Bill if I can before the rain comes over. The dust is laying thick on the surfaces so will also try to get that done, DOH did vacuum through yesterday so at least here is no dog hair floating around.
One good thing is that I have been paid, usual pay-day is 21st, tbh feel a bit of a fraud considering have only done a weeks work but looking at the amount it would seem have had bit of a tax rebate as well. That will be squirrelled away for a possible holiday in June, possibly the Cotswolds as have never been.
We usually shop on a Friday but will see, might have a treat and have a fish and chip supper.
Take care everyone x0 -
Morning :hello:

We had a great morning yesterday (apart from a frenzied barking episode while we were out but I've decided to pretend that didn't happen, lol). Watching a 2yo and a dog chasing bubbles around the kitchen is just fabLittle Mate has stopped calling Scampi 'dog' and has named him Sam, after his own dog

It was very cold yesterday, I struggle to keep my hip warm when we're out. While I was getting dressed I was wondering if you can still get those stretchy little skirts people wore over thick tights/leggings in the 80s, one of those would be perfect. I was putting a vest on and had an idea – I took it off and pulled it up over my leggings instead, rolling the top of the vest over a couple of times as a sort of waistband. Worked a treat
It's frosty here again this morning so will be wearing my makeshift skirt when we go outWe bumped into Milo and his owner yesterday, she asked what time we usually go for a walk and she's going to try to get out at the same time. It'll be good for both dogs and will – hopefully! - calm them both down a bit. I haven't got much planned for today, mr tru is working his day off but I still feel the need to do the usual Friday thing – huge late lunch and a film
I have some chocolate stashed in my drawer so will be enjoying that too.

Good Morning everyone bright and sunny here but thick white frost as well.I have a food shop to do this morning ,mainly fruit and veg and a couple of odds and ends.
Dug a small pack of lamb mince from the freezer so may well turn that into something later.
My cousin in Perth Australia is coming over in August and I hope she brings good weather with her.It was 41c last week out there !!! We are all meeting up for another family reunion in September in Brechin.Had such a great time two years ago when she was over and my other cousin from Winnipeg in Canada is also coming over with his daughter
We are all booked in for the weekend and eldest DD will sort out our flights when she gets back from New York tomorrow.
Lots of exciting things to look forward to this year ,it will be a busy one I think
My brother Davey is coming this Thursday over from France for a visit and I haven't seen him for two years and I am so looking forward to that as well. All my family are so far flung in all four corners of the world:)
I also have a niece in Mexico and she only visits about once every three years or so. I think there must be a 'wanderlust gene' in the family:):)
Right the kettle is calling and a large cup of coffee is indicated to get me up and motivated this morning
Have a great day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

TRU I got DGD one of those stretchy miniscule skirts last summer from H & M. It's not a shop I go in so don't know if they (or any other shops) are still selling them. It wasn't a success on her though, it kept rolling up so she abandoned wearing it!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
