When I changed my ISP to BT and took a couple of new email addresses, I was advised that I had to log in via the BT web site every 150 days otherwise my account would be closed due to inactivity, even though email would still be downloaded via Outlook. I have, of course, done this but I have NEVER received any emails from BT asking me to log in or confirm passwords or any of the usual spammy type requests.

As a VM user I have been following this on their Help forums. There seems to be a body of opinion that during the recent VM migration of email from Google to their own new system, the databases were hacked. Some people are reporting that body text from past genuine emails is even turning up in spoof emails.
I am regularly receiving emails that appear to be from other VM customers (esp.Bluyonder addresses) telling me I need to verify my account etc.

Virgin seem to be keeping very quiet on the subject.

I've had a number of these a few months back.

The first one I phoned Virgin and told not to click anything! I actually thought their emails had been hacked as stated above.

I get loads to my Outlook lately stating broken emails from G Mail had been fixed and click to read. I just block them
