Lied to by phone company - help?

Hi all, I'm new to the site, so apologies if this is in the wrong place etc.

I'm looking for advice on an issue I'm having with my mobile provider. I've been with them for a little under 6 years and recently contacted them via live chat to see if they would price match a deal I found elsewhere. Long story short, they don't offer price matching, but the gentleman I spoke to said he had added a discount to my account which would reduce the monthly cost of my contract once I upgrade, all I needed to do was wait until my upgrade date rather than pay to upgrade early.

Yesterday I contacted them again, to check the discount amount, as I am now less than a week away from my upgrade date, and after much checking, holding and being passed from one colleague to another, was told that I had been "lied to" by the employee who added the discount. Their exact words, no beating around the bush, the company have lied to me. I was told there is no discount, will be no discount and the deal I was originally interested in is no longer available so I have missed out by waiting for my non-existent discount.

Basically, I am angry and would like to make a complaint and preferably demand the discount I was promised. I have screenshots of the original conversation, so evidence of the promises made, but am unsure what my rights actually are, or if I indeed have any, so I'd be grateful for any advice any of you may be able to offer before I go making complaints or demands to the company.

You were lied possibly, but you have not suffered any loss as a result of this as you weren't in a position to leave without charges anyway.

You can complain, but most likely this will be a waste of time.

And, BTW, all early upgrades are usually a bad idea anyway.
