However, there are some intriguing numbers to munch on....

That's a huge rise in non-UK nationals in employment considering the total population.

    What's going on here?

    Well the ONS says:
Noteworthy are the figures for immigration are out next week and are largely expected to show another record. These figures appear to back up that assertion.

Oh....and it's all ruddy good news before my leg gets chewed off.

Lazy reporting on the part of the BBC. It should have said clearly that those increases were year on year, compared to the corresponding 2014 quarter. Instead they made it look like these were the increases just in one quarter.

Youth unemployment is collapsing: in 2011 it was 40%. Now it is 25% and falling fast. It is also really notable that while youth unemployment is high by the usual measure, using the cells patented unemployment rate for 16 & 17 year olds falls to just 6.5%: it turns out most unemployment for the very young is mostly frictional.

    Interesting stuff huh!

yes very interesting, I like to think im reasonably well informed but it seems not I too went with the media fed stats that the young were all idle sitting at home unemployed but it seems they are actually the most likely to get a job in that the 16-17 age group sees the biggest fall from 0-6 months and 6-12 months unemployed and the second biggest group is the 18-24 group so they seem to be trying harder and achieving quicker employment than the other age groups

For the 18-24 age group unemployment is now 12% but it falls to 4.5% if you look at those unemployed for 6 months +

Maybe the next phase will hopefully be better quality and higher paid jobs now that we are close towards full employment
