To Newcroft...Not sure that they would get away with that in the circs you described . Bed,Delivery and Assembly being agreed and paid for then one part of that deal wasn't forthcoming .0

Well, it's now 10 days since 'Callum' at Bensons Head Office promised a refund (by cheque). I'm still waiting.
The company that owns Bensons Beds is the 'Steinhoff Group.' The same company that owns 'Harveys Furniture.' On doing a Google search, I discovered several web pages of complaints against Harvey's. Poor materials/workmanship, wrong deliveries, denial of any responsibility, etc.
Yes, I'm on the lookout for a 3-piece-suite. Guess who I won't be going to?0 -
I'm not one to moan usually but my experience of Bensons for beds has been anything but positive. I live in rural mid Wales and have recently moved house so whilst visiting family near Cardiff I went to check out some beds, with my mum who has a double curvature of the spine and can't sleep comfortably on any of mine when she visits.
We found the perfect one which turned out to be in the clearance sale (so in stock and ready to go). The very friendly salesman assured us that if we paid the higher delivery charge we could have it delivered to Mid Wales, the following Saturday. He informed us that we'd receive a curtesy call the day before to confirm if it was going to be an AM or PM delivery.
NO curtesy call was received, in fact I had to call them on the Saturday. The person I spoke to said he'd look into it and call me back. When he did he said he'd spoken to the courier and he'd be picking up the bed within the next few hours from the store. When I phoned them back later for an update I was told they'd been trying to contact him all day but he wasn't answering his phone... By 5:45 pm it was clear that I wouldn't be getting the bed that day. They were supposed to sort it out the following day but I had to phone them for an update: no joy! But said they'd obviously book the delivery around me for the inconvenience. Eventually they got hold of said courier who said that he knew nothing about the delivery... But could do 2pm on the Wed (not my idea of a convenient delivery as I'm a teacher!) I was assured I'd get a call today to confirm the delivery time and yep, you guessed it: no call! I phoned them and they said they'd get back to me, which they still haven't!
Whilst I appreciate that this is not the end of the world, it's not my idea of acceptable customer service either!
Just phoned them back and mentioned I wish I'd read the wealth of negative reviews on here before purchasing and they said they were surprised by that as they'd won several awards for their customer services!0 -
Never ever written a review of anything before but felt compelled to for Bensons Beds ... Totally awful. Bought a bunk bed at start of November and were told delivery would be end of the month which suited us as the bunk bed was a Christmas present for my 8 and 4 year old sons. Two days before delivery was due we were called to say the bed had been delayed to 12th December due to 'bad weather in the far east' !! We accepted this and were ok as it was still before Christmas. Day before delivery we were called again to say the bed isn't arriving until 13th January ... 10 weeks sine we ordered it and delayed twice. If all this wasn't bad enough I called Bensons Customer Care to see if an earlier date could be arranged and was fobbed off by a very rude man who clearly spent all his time dealing with endless complaints. It took 40 minutes to get through to the customer help line ... Clearly in high demand. Terrible service, broken promises and rude and untrustworthy company. You need to lay down after dealing with this shocking company ... Just not on one of their beds!!!0

I bought a bed and frame from Bensons for Beds, it was all organised to be delivered on a Saturday. Then 2 days before they said it wouldn't be delivered because part was missing. After many phone calls I was still nowhere. At this point I had been sleeping on the floor for 2 weeks so was anxious to get the bed and not have to start looking again. Unfortunately bensons for beds were useless, they said I should just get a refund. Then it got worse, they said I had to return to the store to gain the refund! So I had the bus there and back of the refund. They also said it would take up to a week for the money to be back in my account!! So after all that I had no bed and no money to get a bed somewhere else.
I wrote a complain letter to bensons for beds and the reply said since I gained a refund they could not help me.
Absolutely terrible company and will never shop their again.0 -
I agree with the previous comments, awful company.
We ordered a mattress which became faulty, it's unbearable to sleep on, their independent engineers are complete idiots saying it's not. We can't get a refund and have been left having to pay a £60 charge plus delivery to get a replacement. Would never shop with them again! No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
I would recommend buying online rather than in the shop of Bensons for Beds. Have a look in the shop to decide what you want, but you have more rights if you buy online. Don't be fooled by their best price guarantee - it doesn't work if they reduce the price the very next day, even if you still have to wait a further month for delivery. If you try to cancel you are hit with a 20% of the total order cancellation charge. This does not apply if you buy online. Customer Services are abysmal. I have had no reply whatsoever from my queries sent via email, online, and even a letter to the M.D.!! However, to date I am fairly pleased with my purchase - even though I paid through the nose!0

Wish I had not read this thread, I'm starting to worry now as I've got a new bed on order from them. Its taken me 15 years to save up for a new bed so cannot afford to loose any of my money.
Assuming the worst, can anyone point me in the right direction for advice on what I should do if they cancel the arranged delivery at short notice or fail to turn up on more than one occassion?
I want to have all my facts straight before the problems arise so I can take the appropriate action.
Thanks0 -
I would never buy a bed from Bensons again, bought it 3 years ago, cost £800, wasn't told at the time of paying for it that there would be a delivery charge of £35, the mattress sags badly on both sides where we lay. And we aren't by any means large people. You can actually se the dips in the mattress with the duvet on it. I'm propelled to the edge of the mattress every night. I can't afford to buy a new bed, I know I should've done something about at the time but I thought it would even itself out over time, Of course it hasn't. I won't be going anywhere near a Bensons shop again.1
