Got a parking ticket and the pictures show my car parked on a road, so closely zoomed in that could be anywhere and the picture of the parking restriction sign that could be anywhere, is there a grounds for appeal?

Can we have a bit more info? Like the contravention code, location etc?

OK so you would be appealing that the contravention did not occur and asking for all photos taken and the CEO's pocket book notes.

Then you can make an informed decision with pepipoo's help and should also be re-offered the discount, if you appeal within the first 13 days. So, never a risk to appeal a PCN.

This must be a postal PCN if it has some photos on it?

There appears to be loading/waiting restrictions along the entire length of the road. Relying on just the argument that the picture dosn't show where the contravention occurred is a bit straw clutching in my opinion.

If you were to take this to the independent adjudicator, you would have to show that the ticket was incorrectly issued either due to a flaw with the ticket itself or that you wern't actually contravening the restrictions in place. It appears from street view that the signs and road markings (yellow lines/kerb loading marks) are compliant.

Having said all that, and as CM says, you should always still appeal a PCN anyway within the 14 days discount period as you have nothing to loose. But I think using the argument you suggest will get you no where. You would be better saying you were lost and had gone to ask for directions or didn't see the signs and that you are very sorry and it won't happen again. It does work sometimes.

  • Thanks for your time, Smugglers way has restrictions of varying types, just a few metres away are yellow lines where you can park at that time (5.30pm Sunday), jfyi this is the 4th biggest PCN generator in that borough!

I would do a combo of Tilt's advice and mine. His reason for stopping and my requirement for all photos they intend to rely upon (as it's a postal PCN there will be no CEO's notebook!). May as well see all the evidence pics, which must include a sign and lines and kerb blips.

Oh, so you can ask for CEO's pocket book notes then. Don't assume the website shows ALL photos - ask for ALL. Pocket book notes can be helpful to see the period of observation, that sort of thing.
