    Hi everyone,

It's lovely reading about the wedding dresses. I wanted a silver dress but the thought scandalised my mum, MIL and SIL so I had the traditional white made by my mum (37 years ago this year), full length as well. I told DD she could have just what she wanted when she married last year and she looked lovely in a full length dress with a white and gold lace bodice and a gold tulle skirt.

SIL is down for a few days so we've been out and about - Anglesey Abbey yesterday to see the snowdrops. Today we've got tickets to see Beautiful so we'll go down to the smoke this afternoon and wander round the National Portrait Gallery.

    Have a good day.

  • Good morning everyone,

Wishing everyone well and hoping those who are not feeling well get better soon.

I am on half term this week, DD is off too and DS is taking some annual leave, but they are both still in bed:D

Yesterday we all went on the Harry Potter Studio Tour, and had an amazing day it was really well worth the trip. My mum gave me money at Christmas to buy our presents, so I bought the tickets with the money.

Lots of jobs planned to do, including lots of ironing which I will start shortly, plus some housework and paperwork. Once the children are up I will see if they would like to do something, as DS has friends coming to stay tomorrow and DD has plans. We don't really do much together now as they are older, but its still nice to make the effort.

It was nice reading about everyone's wedding dresses. We celebrated our silver wedding last September. I had a full length ivory dress with a lot of detailing down the back, and my bridesmaids had Laura Ashley style dresses. I remember my mum told my dad to keep smiling as he signed the cheques :D

Have a good day everyone, and stay warm and dry. We have a nice bright day here, so will hang some washing out as its just finished.

    Morning all

I've dropped hubby at work, got the car washed, filled up with fuel and done a little bit of shopping.

NMLC, sounds like a place I temped in for a while, it was a blazing hot summer & I was told not to keep my fan on my desk in case someone threw it at me, the day before I left there was a stabbing, someone was attacked with a screwdriver!

My 2nd wedding dress was red lace, I made that one myself too. My first marriage was happy until my FIL died, my then hubby reacted very badly, he became obsessive and controlling, he has never gone back to how he was. Our youngest was 3 months old, I struggled on for another 17 years until the children left home, the last 2 were forced out by their Dad's unreasonable behaviour. When I left him they moved back in with me as soon as I could offer a roof over their heads.
My current hubby can be a grumpy bu&&er, but is very kind and would give me his last Rollo.

Todays plans include some sewing and crochet and a small amount of housework.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

I got married in 1982 in May at a registry office. After a lot of searching I found a John Bates designer dress that was just around the knee with a crinkle pleat effect and crochet lace shoulders with full sleeves caught in at the wrist. It should have been £100 but I got it for £25. It was white and I wore it with a pillbox hat and tiny veil and white heels.

DH very much wanted us to have a wedding blessing when he was ill so we had a ceremony in April last year in the church near Whitby where his parents and other relatives had married. My dds arranged everything for us so I took DH out for a smart suit and then ordered some outfits to try on from an outlet for me. I ended up with an oyster/ champagne coloured dress in a lacy effect with elbow length sleeves and a gold coloured silk sash with cream kitten heel shoes and an oyster jacket I got in the D****ham sale for £49 instead of £149. Despite the sadness it was a lovely day and I am so glad we made it.

Really cold again today so will drag in the wheelie bins and have a nice SW brunch and lots of tea before making cottage pie later and freezing some. May throw caution to the winds and put on the heating ;)

    Hugs to all

My first wedding dress was a Bo Peep number with puff sleeves, flounced skirt & blue bows in white nylon...budget buy in 1984 of £79!

My second in 2010 was an ivory silk taffeta full length strapless dress by a Belgian designer - was £1100 when tried on in a local bridal shop 18m earlier, but bought for under £120 from the liquidators after they went bust 6m later. It then sold on Eb@y for £145 :D

Aw LAMEWOLF I loved the story of your meeting with your DH and the subsequent whirlwind romance.
Ah, but what I didn't tell you was that at the first meeting, at Dungeons & Dragons, Mr LW was playing a rather inept wizard by the name of Harris Tweed, and he cast a Fireball which did my character (a half-elf fighter named Lyssa Blackthorn) 200 points of damage! Did I mention Harris Tweed was inept??
So I got my revenge by marrying him.:rotfl:
I've never let him forget the fireball incident, either.;)

Ooh, and while we're still on wedding dresses - I deliberately got one I could wear again afterwards; it's seen several theatre and opera trips in the past 12 years.:o

Today is my official day off, really hope to get over to see Bill as haven't been to the yard since Sunday and boy do I miss him but think will ask OH to take me over as wouldn't trust my driving at the moment. My other fur babies are not leaving me alone at the moment, little sweethearts they spend most of the day laying next to the sofa and seem to need a lot of reassurance from me, guess they are just not used to seeing their Mum sit still :)
Aww, bless - some of my canine guests are very concerned if I'm having to lie down for a bit; one of them, Jasper, one time climbed up on the sofa with me and sprawled out on top of me, full-length. It was really sweet.:o
Hope you're feeling a bit better today; I agree about getting OH to drive, no sense in taking risks if you're not up to it.

Mr LW gave me a fright yesterday; he'd called to say he was on his way home, then half an hour later I got another call; he'd had an accident and was waiting for the RAC to come and rescue him.:eek::eek:
Thankfully he's unscathed, and all that's wrong with the car is a burst tyre - transpires that an oncoming driver's headlights dazzled him as he was entering one of those horrid "traffic-calming" chicane things, and he clipped the island with the front wheel, bursting the tyre. He's shaken up, though. Anyways, he's working from home today, and got a mobile repair chappie coming this afternoon to fit a new tyre.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Thank goodness he's ok.
