Hi Again
My son is up and down also it is driving me mad, two weeks ago he was doing the AQE papers and he got 75% and 80% in a row, now this week we are down to less than 50%.
I honestly think it has a lot to do with his attitude on the day if he can't be bothered or i'm taking him away from something its torture, he moans and complains and his attitude doing the test then suffers.
I have to remind him constantly that this is his choice I'm happy for him not to do it as our local secondary is great was a former grammar school and has a good reputation.
Then we fall out
I know this is what is coming for the next few months.

We have been trying to 'help' at home but i am concerned we are confusing her more! Hubster is saying maybe we need to back off but how will it ever make sense if we do? i think more rather than less but reading here, i don't want to stress her/cause burnout. Tough to know what to do for the best..0

Hi Bambi1980
First time through this for me. Maybe work on revision books or easier tests first and move it up gradually. My DS is scoring well at the moment but I can see he is starting to wind down with the summer hols in sight. He needs more practice to build speed and accuracy. Hope to do some work over holidays but not until a 2 week complete break first. Stress / Burnout is what we all seem to dread!0 -
Hi Dee1000.
Nice to see another join in here. You are fortunate to have a good secondary so that should ease the pressure a bit. Think if was in that position I'd probably back off and then see if he wants to do the test. Where I am the grammar school is a lot better than our closest secondary. There's another excellent secondary but heavily over subscribed, and we'd hardly get in as we are too afar away.

Hi there, This using forums thing is completely new to me! I'm actually a tutor but I'm not here to sell my wares! We went through this process ourselves last year and I have a support group over on Facebook where I post up regular videos, free worksheets, etc if you fancied joining us. The forum won't let me post a link so if you want to join just let me know and I'll try and find you on Facebook!
Kindest Regards,

Schools off. Takng a couple of weeks off and then getting back to the AQE prep. How much work is everyone doing with the kids over the summer? Our school provided 6 windmill papers but think we'll do some Easons books too as that doesn't seem a lot.0

Hi, my son is sitting the AQE this Autumn. His school hasn't sent any papers home! They did do one AQE past paper in June and he got 85%. He has a June birthday. I've heard of some school sending home 18 papers! I was planning to do the transfer test papers over the holidays, say doing one a week but I've heard people doing three a week. I don't want to sicken him!0
