The slow speed is due to my location. However, there is a local company who is now doing a wireless/satellite service that will actually give me the speeds that they promise. I know this because there are people in the village who are already using the service & can't speak highly enough about them.
The abysmal service is down to giving me a speed of less than half of what they said I'd get (and to put that in context, they estimated about 2Mb. If I'm lucky, I can get 0.7Mb but often less than 0.5) and for this I pay the same as the 17Mb service which is now their standard.
The new fibre connection is called Infinity because that's how long it will take before our rural location is connected.
They are also now p~$$!@& me off by constantly suspending my email accounts due to (unspecified) "suspicious activity" & making me reset all my passwords, sometimes twice a day. It appears that this is a fairy common problem although they will not admit to it. I've got seven different addresses on the system & I have to reset them all. I've asked about the "activity" & they can't/won't tell me anything. Not even if it's related to all, some or just one of the addresses. Doesn't matter to them......just reset the lot!
So they are going as soon as my 1year line rental contract ends in May.0 -

No mention of it at all. The village (hamlet??) is about 50 houses that are approx 4 miles from the nearest exchange. We'll be a long way down a list that'll never get finished anyway!0 -

We're in a kent hamlet and get about the same speed (?) as you.
Now we're getting excited because Openreach have put a green cabinet in our village hall car park and they've dug a trench, laid a cable and tarmaced it over.
This has all taken about 3 months but no info about when they might connect it up? Trying to be optimistic.0
