I know someone who plastered the details of her luvvy-duvvy relationship all over Facebook, posting daily updates on how marvellous this chap was, and how much in love they were, details of all their dates, celebrations of a week/month/6 months together etc etc. And then it went sour. She ended up deleting the Facebook profile and starting a new one.

I would definitely go with the less-is-more approach when it comes to deciding what to share on Facebook.

I had to go and look see to be sure but as expected neither of us have a relationship status . Maybe we'll change it when we get married but in three years it has never occurred to either of us to change the status -as someone else said - those that matter already know .

I think it already includes the bride changing her last name on Facebook, judging by the speed most of the women I know seem to do it.

My FB name isn't my real surname anyway so I can skip that step.

Seems to be a generational thing. I calmly decline to discuss who I'm married to (or not), or in any kind of relationship with (although the Sherlock, Denby & sundry wool & craft stuff that bubbles through my timeline is a bit of a hint) on Fb.

My senior cousins are "friends" with their offspring online, silently, but by agreement. It does mean that the status palaver, and any tagged photos, keep the parents advised without all the complexity of anxious &/or drunken phonecalls & I've the greatest respect for how the father manages to persuade sons "home for lunch, as their mother's looking peaky" (utter tosh - she's a regular half marathoner) whenever the photos look too worrying...
