OnePlus mobile - for SIM only

Hi, newbie here, hopefully not mucking stuff up or asking the wrong thing in wrong place, but I am wanting to go for a SIM only deal, and saw there is a phone called OnePlus (various models), they look super cheap compared to the other android phones. Need to order from China though (makes me nervous a little) Anyways, anyone ever got one, and if so...would recommend one? If they are recommended it would save me quite a bit.

I have the One Plus One, and would happily buy the one plus 2 for £250 if my current One wasn't still working so well.

  • Any downsides? I have never had a proper fancy phone, so I have no idea how it matches up. Currently using an old Sony Ericsson.

A mate of mine really knows his phones and he rates the OnePlus phones. I nearly bought one, but someone mentioned the Wileyfox range and I bought a Wileyfox Swift for half the price of a OnePlus.

I am really impressed with the Wileyfox. It may not be quite as good as the OnePlus, but I can't see that the extra cost of the OnePlus would bring me any real benefit as the Wileyfox does all I need.

If it matters to you Wileyfox appears to be a British company, but the phones are made in China and distributed from Germany.
  • You have thrown a spanner in my oneplus plan! I will check out Wileyfox, from first glance they look good, and also they more within my meagre budget. Thanks. If I can manage it I will try for a oneplus, if not Wiley looks good.

If you get the Wileyfox Swift make sure you get a Micro SIM, not a full size SIM.
  • From having a look at both, I prefer onePlus, but I worry about what if something goes wrong - looks like their customer service isnt great and the company is based in China. I'd assume Wiley will be better for customer service and problems if it goes wrong...although I have nothing to base this on yet.

    Thanks for SIM tip!

Oneplus, ASUS zenphone 2, are quite similar. You can't go wrong with either. I have the ASUS zenphone 2. It's the best $200 I ever spent on a phone. https://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/
  • I never knew the ASUS or Whiley existed! I need to do some reading.
