A colleague searched for my name on the internet & my full home address & phone number appeared on the above site. As far as I know I have had no dealings with them & when I attempted to remove my entry using their link, they quoted a 'fee' of £9.99 !
Is this legal or can I demand to be removed FOC ?
I've noticed in their T&Cs that they seem to be based in Tel Aviv, if that is relevant.
Has anybody else come across this operation ?

I have had the exact same thing happen, no way are they getting a tenner of me, I never gave them any kind of permission to use my details. I have use their contact us link but as yet have not had a reply. Also my listing on this site mysteriously appeared after I filled in a form for 192.com to delete my details from their site, although they did not charge for this.
I am quite annoyed, it is very unfair.

I've now written to them using the ICO link using their 'Contact us' link.
Ironically, there is no way to find their address !


Anyone else had dealings with this lot ?

I asked them to remove the name of a convicted child sex offender, apparently at my address still. I bought the house of this guy 11 yrs ago. £10 by PayPal to have entry removed. No chance, so wrote on the web enquiry form. Doubt I'll get a response!!

Hi all at moneysaving. I also found myself ,my personal details , name in full, full address and phone number registered on this site phoneebook.co.uk who appear to be based in Israel and offer premium access to personal details. I clicked on their website button to 'remove my details' and was directed to paypal. I actually paid the £9.99 and my details were not removed from their site after two weeks. So i put in a dispute/ complaint to paypal and set up a dispute discussing what was wrong with this company and they were using people's details to sell on their phone numbers and personal addresses without their permission. I just checked today and I have received a full refund but my dispute with the company has not ended as they ask people to pay £9.95 to remove their details. I have also filled out a form on 192.com and sent that in to remove my details and have put a complaint in with my phone provider about giving out my personal details. My dispute with phoneebook via paypay has not ended as they are making people pay for a service which they will not do so they are miselling twice round without permission.

I hope more people are trying to stop this company selling on details and putting them online as paying them £9.95 will not get your details removed from their site.

They need to be investigated as they are based in Israel (Tel Aviv as one person discusses above) and not even in the UK so may not even be paying tax in this country.

I will keep people updated as this dispute proceeds . I also wrote to BBC money program about them to investigate this company further.

I wonder how many more people have their details 'shared' by Phoneebook & don't even know it ?
Surely there must be some way of stopping this 'racketeering' !
