Toyota main dealer - Fuel injectors (AA Breakdown & parts Cover)

My car was towed into Toyota main dealer by AA. (Car is a W Reg. Toyota Previa)
They have told me 2 fuel injectors need replacing and the fuel pump is full of water, total cost it £1400. (Pump was replaced less than 2 months ago as it was full of water!)

AA breakdown and repair cover will only cover the first £500 of any claim so i will pay only £900 (minus excess £35), is this resonable??.

Will it definelty be the injector that have gone and nothing is wrong with the fuel lines/tank etc? If I pay the main dealer (as you have to when dealing with AA cover) and the fault still exists would they then repair it for free? I've been to local garages before and they have changed 2-3 parts before knowing which is definelty gone). Is it different with main dealers?

Also (as a separate question) if I take it to another garage (ie, local cheaper) will the AA still pay for the parts (the other garage will have to tow as its not starting).
Thanks for your help.

you need to find out why water in system before spending a dime
ie is it a local garage selling contaminated fuel (very common if tanks old)
or is there a rain leak getting to your tank /pipes or maybe a head gasket fissure?

do not spend a penny on an old dog just because it has a new collar
  • I'd be surpised if AA payed out on a w reg car.

You don't need to go to a main dealer, you can take it to any VAT registered garage.

Especially on an older car I'd not use a main dealer. Far more cost effective to find a local garage who can help at a fraction of the cost

You've got a 16yr car. It's getting water into the fuel system, after a few weeks of rain.

I think I'd start by looking at the fuel cap and pipework from filler to tank. But that's just me. Hell, I'd have done it after the last time...

Would I be getting it taken to a main dealer? Not a hope.

£900 and you'll still have the inherent fault of the water leak. Unless you want to up your game and trace this leak, put the car out of its misery and scrap it.
