Brighthouse dryer recall help

Comments

  • After refusing to backdown and being given an email address for one of the bosses from another site, I finally got a resolution.

I emailed them stating that I wanted a letter confirming my complaint, also a letter stating their final response so that I could take them to a small claim court.
That was on Friday night. Today I got a call from head office stating that the loan dryer they had delivered had been repaired by their own Hotpoint engineer :rotfl: but could understand why I would not want the brand so a member of my local store would be in touch and we could sort this out.

A little later my local store called and said they had pulled a massive favour for me :rotfl: and they were delivering a new loan dryer this Friday and I didn't have to pay a payment till my dryer had been repaired!! :j I like how they were doing this as a favour and not that it's part of the 5* service which is included in the £7 weekly payment.

I hope all the people in my position fight for their rights and don't risk a fire by taking Brighthouse' first response. Thanks to everyone who replied :)

So they offered you a working loan that had already had the fix applied. Not sure why you are not happy with this? I think they are doing you a favour swapping one working machine for another just for the sake of it.

I don't think it's a favour, it's the least they can do after the amount of interest they charge.

No the loan dryer I had received last week but couldn't use as it also ended up being one of risk dryers.
Basically BH tried to tell me it had been modified by their own Hotpoint engineers, to make it seem as if they had done nothing wrong.
    Clearly it was a lie.
  • The dryer I will be receiving is a loan dryer but will be a brand new Beko one apparently.
And I get a couple of months or so free until my dryer has been repaired by Hotpoint.

3 years at £7 a week is £1092. What a price for a tumble dryer. Brighthouse are a shocking place to do business, but it is a sign of our times that the poorest in our society get ripped off the most.

No its pointless. They said it had been fixed the OP claims this is a lie but has no proof. So I'm going to assume BrightHouse are telling the truth.

Swapping one working loan machine for another of a different brand is totally pointless. It does nothing for the OP. The had a working loan which is being swapped for another loan for no reason other than the OP wants to swap. That's a favour no matter how much BrightHouse have charged.

    I do have proof.
    1) Hotpoint told me it was a fire safety hazard

    2) There was sticker on the back of the machine with a date of Jan as having being checked, but this was a pat testing sticker not a Hotpoint sticker or a sticker in any way saying it has been modified.

    3) If it had been modified and was safe then why didn't they tell me that? I was told it was a model that wasn't affected by the fault in the first place, then when I found out it was a fire hazard from Hotpoint, BH then said there was nothing they could do for me as they didn't have any other dryers for me. This was the reason I had an issue with BH.

Yes and no. They are if they insist on everything being new and shiny. There are plenty of organisations that provide tested reliable older machines.

I've only been relatively wealthy a short time. Before that I only ever had second hand electricals.

    They don't do favours.
