Hi,
I'm 26, was employed until from 16 year old to 22 where I left work to raise my son. Never had credit in my life as always outright purchased everything. I pay my OVO direct debit on time month after month and had the same bank account since a very young age,
Applying for credit I fail, trying to search for my credit file it fails.
Have been on the voters roll for 2+ years and only moved onced in the past 10 years.
Whats the deal? Obtaining credit is not an issue its just having a look at my credit file is what I need.

It's typically difficult to get credit when you don't have a history of having any.0 -
I assume companies never report those on pay direct debits on time?0

I assume companies never report those on pay direct debits on time?"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0

OVO don't report, but some utilities do. Anglian Water does, British Gas do, I think EON might.
I don't know what happens when you have nothing being reported in, I'd always expected that there should still be a CRA file even if it's empty of account history - it should pull information from public records, Electoral Register, etc even if there aren't any accounts reporting? Maybe not though.
I think the first route might be to raise a dispute / complaint to Noddle and / or Clearscore - or certainly to Equifax, Experian and Call Credit. You may need to write into them directly though given you haven't gotten an account to raise a dispute through. They will at least explain whether you should have CRA records without account history, or whether you require account history in order to show with the CRA.
The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced you should still have CRA records - most (not all, but most) Electoral Roll searches are carried out via CRAs for identity checks, so that has to be there for that to happen?0 -

I have been considering switching bank for some time. Would this help?0

Hi
I suspect that WorkingTowardDebtfree is right that you should still be able to access a credit report even if you’ve never used any credit. It’s best to take this matter up with the credit reference agencies directly as suggested.
