TalkTalk loss of service, stuck in a 'repair' loop.

More scam type calls from 'TalkTalk' received this morning. They follow pretty much the events discussed in the article in 'the register'. They know my name and that I have had a recent repair issue involving tech and engineer support which is very worrying. If I play along with the callers they try to get me to download a program to my computer and when that fails due my my 'incompetence';) they say I have been awarded some compensation for my recent downtime and ask for my bank details. They are very practised, slick and plausible at what they are doing and it would be very easy to be fooled by them.
I contacted the TT online chat facility today thinking that TT might just be interested in what was happening in their name but no joy. Just got told to block unwanted callers and activate the Anonymous Caller Reject Feature. How is that going to work when they call from a different number every time?
TalkTalk clearly have no interest in the fact that they have a breach in security somewhere!0 -
Hi Miro,
I am sorry to hear this. Our 'scam calls' help page http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/scam-phone-calls does contain information on how to report those calls to us.
Thanks

Hi Miro,
I've had a couple of similar scam calls from India, pretending to be from Talk Talk and trying to get me to give them access to my computer. I'm no longer with Talk Talk (thank god), so knew it was a scam.
The way I got them to stop was to simply keep them hanging on the line. "Are you on your computer? - No", waited 5 minutes. Then they asked is it switched on? - No", waited another 5 minutes. Then after more guff I said "Oh there's someone at the door". They actually hung on for over 15 minutes before hanging up.
Later that day they kept continually ringing back again and again until I answered. They said they'd been cut off and started the same routine. I said look I know it's a scam call and if you can either remove my number from your database or we can keep playing games and I'll keep you hanging on until you hang up. He told me to F.... Off and hung up!!
Not had a peep since then.0
