Tuesday 16th February - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

  • Good morning everyone :wave:
    I've had a very restless night because it is SO cold outside. The cats have wanted to be out and back in within a few minutes at varying times during the night... :mad: I gave up and got up about an hour ago, and after trying to doze back over on the sofa I've gotten up for now.
    I confess my head is still all over the place, which is not ideal, but at least I'm aware of it. And I don't have to go to work! :j
    Plans for today
    :undecided Check banking and PAD
    :undecided Do not stress
    :undecided Make big roast dinner from YS chicken and super six veggies
    :undecided Take ds to hairdresser - still undecided whether to get my own done
    :undecided Get dh and the kids to tidy the house before his CPN visits this afternoon
    :undecided Finally sew up my knitting and crochet projects.
    :undecided make time for exercise
    That's all I can think of for now. Have a good day everyone. :)

    Morning Cat & all who follow

    Sorry you had a bad night. Is there no way of segregating your cats? They do seem to often cause you issues with their ways. Naughty things.

    I was expecting a bad night as DD had her last imms yesterday but she slept as well as she usually does. So just waking for feeds.

    I am actually going against the force this morning and have booked a taxi for the first time in years. But it will carry the 4 of us on an essential journey for £8 and save me a 45 minute walk. It's quite icy here today so I made the decision based on time and comfort. Obviously it's the same to return. However when I think that £16 is a takeaway these days of which I no longer ever buy. Or probably 1 round in a bar (is it?) I can justify it that way.

    Have a good morning all.

  • Morning All :hello:

    A quick missive before work (day off tomorrow :j).

    Todays list of small things is:
    Another NSD.
    Check online banking and savings. Hoping to move banks tomorrow :o It scares me.
    A bit of flat hunting as I need to find somewhere new to live soon. Excited about that :D
    I have a charity bag of clothes. May rummage deeper tonight to see what else I do not use.

    I think that is it! I know a very little list today. All worth it though.

    Have a good day everyone. Wrap up warm. I really dislike cold crisp weather :doh:

    Pace.
    Money scares me.:eek:

    Honesty update will arrive shortly......:o

    Morning all,
    Bright blue sky here today, but soooo icy. Haven't really planned my day yet, but it will include a few bits of money saving:
    *Last laundry load of the week washed overnight on cheap tariff. Might peg it out if the ice thaws.
    *Free exercise. Was going to dig over raised bed but too frozen so will do an exercise dvd instead.
    *Sow broad beans (in recycled waxed card coffee cups from all those free Waitrose coffees!)
    *Finish library book & add to returns bag.
    *Knit 1 cat.
    *Work on family history project as I want to cancel my payment to an online resource. Nearly finished.
    There will doubtless be other things too, as the day unfolds. Oh, & I did finish knitting my purple socks yesterday. Think they will look nice worn over black lacy tights.
    Ok, must get a move on.

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for the start CCL. Sorry to hear that you had a bad night :( I only managed about 5 hours sleep, as DH has a cold and spends much of the night crashing about :(

    Hope your son is better soon Ziggy

    Freezing again here this morning, but it looks as though the sun is going to come out :)

    List for today:
    Check banks
    Dog walks x 2
    Load of washing and peg outside (brrr but it will start to dry and can be finished off on the airer :))
    HM meals from stores
    Find packaging, pack up and post ebay item sold yesterday :)
    Walk all journeys
    Put sales items brought back from unit yesterday away (they are still in the car at the moment)
    Sow tomato seeds :)
    Keep heating and hot water use to the minimum, till we light the woodburner later :)
    Any online surveys, check FPL

    Doesn't sound much, but I am sure I will think of more later :)
    Hope you all have a good day :)

    Morning all!

    I made it to base camp of laundry mountain last night but then it was time to pitch up the tent (aka bedtime!) so I must make it to the summit tonight! :rotfl:

    Today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Make payment off CC
    * Make smoothies for breakfast
    * Reuse sandwich bag for freezing banana (use for smoothies)
    * Load of washing on 30 degree ecowash
    * Take lunch to work
    * Update speadsheet, snowball and signature
    * Check FPL
    * Charge phone in work
    * Earn more on OnePoll
    * Pop to Home Bargains for lunch bits (didn't go yesterday but need a few other bits that I didn't realise so I'm pleased I didn't waste a journey)
    * Dinner from stores
    * Conquer laundry mountain!
    * Strip and remake bed
    * Do some housework as per flylady thread

    Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a good day.

    Morning everyone and what a cold one it is!!

    But the sun is shining and today I'm celebrating being an MSE forumite for 10 whole years! Wow! And so much has happened!

    Debt got worse before it got better (and continues to do so), went from a 2 person household to 4 person with one easy(!!) pregnancy and we're now working towards being debt free hopefully within the next 3 years. Having plodded along quite happily for a while, still paying money towards debts but not really cracking it, I've had some inspiration and am working with OH to clear a couple of CCs this year which will feel so great! I've kept the cards (long out of use and out of date) and so when the balance is zero and the account closed I can have a symbolic card cutting ceremony and I know I'll feel good!

    Have a good day everyone and stay warm! QBx
