Ve ry windy here during the night and until an hour ago, been raining heavily ever since,
its cold too heating on almost all day.

Roast pork steak, baked potatoes and beans for dinner....may be dining alone again today, DD2 and girls are out and may eat somewhere exciting like maccy dees.

My wedding dress in 1970 was a white shirtwaister I paid £5 for in a boutique......woke at 6 am on my wedding day, decided that it was too short and took it up 2 inches......the legs could take it then!

Good morning everyone, what a cold frosty morning it was today, nowhere near as bad as it was 53 years ago when it was my wedding day. Boy was it bad then , even the registrar had trouble getting in to work. Thick snow everywhere which seemed to last for weeks :).

I wore a very very short dress which barely covered my essentials :) along with a matching coat I don't think I've ever been so cold. Our wedding 'breakfast' as we were so broke cost £9.00 which was steak and chips for us and the two witness's we had pulled in off the street.

My family didn't approve of my choice as they said we hadn't known each other long enough (43 days ) and he was 13 years older than me.but we lasted 40 odd years and were very happy.so we proved them all wrong :):) I still wear the same gold ring he bought me which cost him £4.00 :) Never regretted it at all, I always thought myself very lucky.
Well, I first met Mr LW on 2nd January 2002, at Dungeons & Dragons. We realised there was "something" between us when we both attended a wine tasting - organised by the Dungeon Master, who was more perceptive than either of us :D that was on 3rd May 2002, and I moved in with him of 27th May 2002. We had to wait for my divorce to be finalised before we could get married.
We love the bungalow life is so much easier all on one floor!!
Great, isn't it? I was so lucky Mr LW already had a bungalow when I moved in with him.
MIL said I should marry in lavender as that was the colour for spoiled goods!
Oh dear - I did marry in lilac! :rotfl: I just liked the colour, and I look ghastly (ghostly?) in white.
Btw, my dress was full length - can't abide having my legs on show.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Lovely to hear how things have all worked well for so many of you :) and that dresses being short was fairly normal back then. OH wore a three piece suit which had a waistcoat that was cut sraight across his waist and thought he looked the bee's knees.:)

My brother had promised to come and take the photos, but got snowed in so I have no photos at all, hence the reason we had to grab two students off the street as witnesses, we got married in Oxford and they were happy to do it for a free meal (probably just as well as my frozen blue colour wouldn't have been very glamorous :) Never clapped eyes on them again I think one was from New Zealand and his girfriend came from Devon. :):)

My youngest DD popped in at lunchtime and gave me a nice bunch of flowers bless her, I have been spoilt today
Very chilly wind blowing at the moment and I'm shortly off to quiz night,
hope everyone is keeping warm and dry
    Cheers everyone

  • Aw LAMEWOLF I loved the story of your meeting with your DH and the subsequent whirlwind romance.

I met Mr TA when I was sporting a bronze tan (We didn't know the dangers in those days) He said I looked as though I'd just spent a month in Barbados and must be loaded! I'd actually just spent 3 weeks in Cornwall. Me and another girl had hitch-hiked there and back and slept in a disused railway carriage that was used for drying onions! We'd met up with friends staying in caravans and tents on a farm and the onion shed was the only place left where we could doss down!! So I wasn't the wealthy globetrotter he thought I was! He tells people he had more money than me and he had nowt!

    Night all, sweet dreams xx
