Also, it's a DVD +RW. I thought this meant I could record & record over - it seems once you've recorded once it's there for good. Is this correct?

    Please help if you can.

It sounds like you have used +R discs, these can not be rewritten on. What you need is +RW discs.

It is confusing with +R/+RW as even if the disc is +R, they still print +RW on the sleeve. You have to look for it to say +RW re-writable, and not just recordable.

    Poundland sell +RW discs for £1 each, and 3 or 4 +R discs for a £1.

Must not get them mixed up with the official format -R / -RW.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I should have the Lite On soon, it was delivered to my dads work today!!.

Like JJames has said, I have had a few Lite_On drives and they have been fantastic.

Now got an NEC DVDRW which is equally as good, although avoid Benq - I had nothing but trouble with theirs

I purchased a Liteon 5005. It records on all format and plays on all formats too. We think it is brilliant and it was reasonably pricedfrom Argos. Even on the extended play (6hrs) the recording quality is better than that of the best VCR.

I recived the LiteOn 5006 yesterday and so far have been very impressed - bar not being able to find any trace of Channel 5 on the TV Tuner. I have emailed LiteON about it and await their reply.

Overall a lot better looking than I thought from the picture, works well on all disk formats, good picure and sound.

Bad points - takes a lot of getting used to - its not that user friendly, plus the problem I have mentioned above.

I'd say go for it if anyone was considering

I found the same problem of not being able to find Channel 5. I wasn't worried as its reception is usually very poor in our area. I would be interesting to know what Liteon have to say.

I have found that EP (4 Hours offers the best trade off between quality and time. SLP (6 hours) is just too blocky for me.

I'll be using it to record Dream Team which is 45 minutes with the ads cut out so that will fit 5 on 1 DVD
