    You don't. All PCO Licensed cars in London(including Uber) have to have the blue sticker in the corner from TfL but that's it so you cant tell the difference unless they have it written on the side of something.


    The only cabs allowed roadside pick up freely are the black cabs but there's a vast majority of both licensed and unlicensed cabs that will do it anyway if they think they can get away with it.

    Black Cab drivers have had a reputation for their driving for many years so whilst Uber Drivers are unlikely to be perfect it shouldn't be a shock that a taxi driver can behave inconsiderately.
    The black Cab drivers don't like Uber because their comfortable semi monopoly position is threatened (especially in London) and they have had it all their own way since God was a boy. Having an option to use an app which will deliver a taxi for half the price or less is worth having IMO. Certainly some regulations about quality are needed but not the closed shop which tells you that you need the "knowledge" when a Satnav can do it just as well(Cue stories about going to the wrong Stamford Bridge).
