Uber driver

London driving is a PITA and the goddamn private hire vehicles are driving me nuts.
I was driving northbound on City road just north of the roundabout. This idiot uber driver does a Uturn on that road when there is a roundabout just ahead at 10AM traffic. He crosses over a central reservation and then proceeds to pick up a fare on double red (pretty sure this is disallowed). All the oter drivers are annoyed and beep their horn at the guy to get moving and then the driver being under pressure pulls back out from lane1 to lane 2 as he needs to do a right turn (I presume), deoesn't check hazards and almost hits a motorcyclist.
PCO drivers are running riot in LOndon, it's a zero sum game and they're making £30-40 profit each day working all day because there are just so many of them and using services like uber where they effectively bid the price down.

Have you reported this to TfL, or the police?0

Driver does a dodgy U-turn, stops where they shouldn't and annoys other drivers in London traffic shocker!!!
If there are currently too many taxi drivers in the city for them all to make a living, then market forces will reduce those numbers.0 -

I fail to see how Uber's marketing methods impact whether or not there are too many taxi drivers in London. If there are taxi drivers who are not making enough money to earn a living, then some will give up. There will then be less taxi drivers.0 -
There have been television programs; newspaper stories, and plenty all over the Internet about how badly Uber treat their drivers.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

no, just like there are endless stream of economic migrants heading over for britain. Despite the migrants here sending news back that their situation here is tough and not possible to find cash jobs any more. There are still endless stream of migrants from pakistan, india, bangladesh selling their land and all their possisions to get hitch hiked over to Britain. There is still a perception that economic migrants can still make it.
Similarly is true with cabbing. TfL do not seem to have a cap on PCO licenses and will give a license to anyone who applies and meets their standards. This results in drivers who have took out a lease for a <5 year old car who now have to work off their car. With the abundant misinformation about how you can make £30 an hour driivng for a living in London there are endless stream of people jumping through the hoops to get into this line of work and because thjey've invested so much money in it, they are stuck.
The market forces/supply and demand BS is trumpeted by academics who have comfortable secure jobs the reality is quite different. People get stuck between a rock and a hard place and forced to make choices and accept lesser of the worse options.0 -
And do Black cab drivers also stop on red routes, do U turns and have near misses too?0

Yes, but that wouldn't give OP the opportunity to have a moan about immigration.
Those pesky foreigners coming here to take our jobs/ houses/ women/ taxis!0 -
If he wants an assignment maybe he should calculate how many drivers have SD&P insurance yet actually use the car for commuting and business use.
I wonder how many policies get cancelled for that each year?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
