Nationwide Simply rewards - anyone tried changing their registered card?

I recently received a new credit card from Nationwide with a new card number. In order to continue to benefit from the Simply Rewards programme I have been trying to get my old card deactivated and new one working since 20th January and have so far been unsuccessful.

I am wondering if anyone else is having issues as I am about to lodge a complaint with Nationwide and Visa about this.

If your new card has the same number as your old one you don’t need to do anything; just continue using your Simply Rewards account. If your new card has a new number, you'll have to close your Simply Rewards account (go to ‘Contact’ page and select option ‘Deactivate Account’ from the list of issue types). You'll then have to create a new Simply Rewards account and register your new card by following the normal registration process.

I changed to a new Nationwide debit card a few weeks ago with no problems.

Just follow the procedure they advise. The old Simply Rewards account will be cancelled, and they'll advise you so by email. You then re-register with the new card, and they'll email you to say it's activated. Whole thing took about 4 days
  • My card number has changed, I requested the account be deactivated and nothing happened. I chased it and still nothing happened. This was around 20th January. So I registered the new card using a different email address. About a week ago they advised me the account had been deactivated against the original email address. I changed the new account to my preferred email address and thought all was well, however on Friday they deactivated the new account too. I've not been able to use the rewards programme since Jan 20th and now it won't let me re-register today with ANY email address, I get an error message after putting in the card details.

There doesn't seem to be anyone in Nationwide or Visa who can assist, or explain why it isn't working. I think I will have to raise a complaint directly with NW then as clearly in my case at least the process isn't working :-(

Just noticed that one can easily change the Nationwide card linked to Simply Rewards by going to "Settings" after logging on to the Simply Rewards site, and updating the card number under "My Registered Card".

Clearly a much better , recent system
