It wouldn't do any harm at the seller's recent history to see if they have sold an S5 just in case they did send it to you in error.

    I'll do that now.
If you turn it on, has it already been wiped?

Might be worth doing the following:

    Touch Apps
    Touch Settings
    Scroll to About Device
    Touch Status
Scroll down and View Phone number

This was the number the phone was linked to. Always worth giving a quick call if the number is still there.

    Thanks. It's wiped.

No worries, might still be worth checking. I know when Ive done a full factory reset on my Android handsets it still has my number stored.
  • It is yours now, use it and enjoy your new phone

Surprised it took this long for someone to come out with that rubbish.
  • Usolicited goods act, it's his now. It was sent to him, his exact details.

Why is that rubbish? I am aware of people whom have gone through very similar circumstances and were under no obligation to return the goods.

Unsolicited goods does not cover mistakes.

It specifically covers items sent in expectation of payment. Every year I get Christmas cards from the foot and mouth artists, along with a payment slip. THAT is unsolicited goods. Items sent by mistake are not.

Go and have a read up on the Unsolicited Goods and Services Act 1971, The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and Consumer Protection Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and tell me why you believe this to be unsolicated goods that the OP can keep straight away?

Off topic, but I'm not sure what I'm more surprised at the fact they send you something WITH a payment slip on there and effectively say "Please pay for this thing you already have from us and didn't pay for" or the fact they do it EVERY YEAR

Guilt, they rely on the heart strings being pulled at that time of year. Unfortunately enough people must pay up for them to keep doing it.
