  • Alrighty, 23 days till the end of the month. 6 days of that weekends, 2 days of that bank holidays. So really 15 days when solicitors will be working to get this move all sorted.

Still no dates for exchange / completion but I'm not stressed, oh no, it will be fine. Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean.

So just need to focus on what I can control I guess. Did some more tip runs at the weekend. Just need to go through all my clothes really and wash every thing I'm keeping that needs it, and get rid of everything else.

Still no taker for the couch and chair, so looks more and more like I'll have to pay someone to take it away. I was thinking doing it asap so it is done, but now I'm thinking maybe I need to hold off and just do it once I have dates, as I need to get rid of a fridge and freezer too. As well as get the dishwasher / washing machine moved. So if I can do it all in the last week I'm here maybe I can just live on take away for a bit then, rather than having to pay someone twice. I guess it depends if they charge per trip to the tip or how it works really.

Just to complicate matters too I have to go to london next week for a day for work, which will nacker me out. As well I might have a job interview I wasn't expecting, so will need to cram for the tests for that. Just too much to do and so little time.

For the money side though my o2 contract is finally at an end, so just got my pac code today to get that moved to giff gaff.

I need to order a ID mobile wifi hub as they do one with no contract, so I'm trying to time that right so I don't have to pay for extra months I don't need, but also I need internet so I can still wfh when I move until sky gets moved over.

  • Still no change, no news from solicitors, nothing else chucked out of the house. Tomorrow I have my first interview out of three for a new job though. I'm scared as I haven't revised enough, and everything I try and read is just not going in.

I know I can do this job, and do it well, it is just as the interview involves two tests, and just the word test makes me forget everything I've ever learnt.

I need to think happy positive thoughts, if I could at least have a practice test, or have some idea about the style of questions that might help but the obviously can't do that as it is unfair to the other applicants. Maybe I'll be lucky and no one else has applied.

So I'll either get it or not, either way it will be good practice for the next time I apply for a similar role so I don't freak so much. This is just a big leap out of my comfort zone really, and with all the house stuff going on as well it's just a lot of stress all at once. That doesn't even include all the madness in my current role. Train tickets still haven't turned up for the london trip next week either. If I have to go in an extra day to the office next week I will not be amused.

Anyway just needed to vent a bit. Happy thoughts, clever thoughts, I know ALL the acronyms ever (not). This will be a piece of cake - oh cake mmmmmmmm.

    Good luck for today.

What condition is the furniture you want in and what is the position of the buyers? If they are FTB'ers they may be grateful of it, just to tide them over?

  • Well I had the interview it was even worse than I imagined. I scored points for getting to the end though as a lot of people ask to end it early as it is so hard. So even if I got it all wrong I still didn't quit. Not really sure that is a good thing but anyway.

I had told someone else who wanted me in a different team a few months, back I was doing it yesterday. They hadn't managed to get funding though so it didn't happen. Today before the interview they offered me a job. They said I could choose the other one but they still really wanted me, and even before the interview I was thinking that might be a better fit but after the interview even more so.

So I might still have a new job anyway.

For the funiture my place is going to the people I was going to use as my estate agent. They want to build an extension amd change they layout etc. They have said if I can't shift everything they would sort it. But I don't want to be too cheeky when they have been so nice. If it comes to it I might just leave it. When they finish though they will want posh furniture for their photos to sell the place rather than my 8 year old couch ;)

Anyway crazy day. Thanks for the messages

When I've been doing places up/clearing them out I'd have loved an old sofa to collapse on instead of the stairs :D.

Thanks, maybe you're right and I'm worrying too much. They did say they didn't mind if I leave things. I'm donating most of the white goods I'm not needing to the rescue I got my dog from. They are old but they can use them. So maybe that is good enough.

So plans for today, finally sort through all my clothes, as that's the last big thing to sort through. I can start the new series of House of cards while doing that too.

Go through my old IT books and ziffit the out of date ones, as I use safari books more than physical books these days anyway.

Order a mifi so I have internet when I move, so I can still work from home until sky gets moved over.

  • Well the people buying my place, have finally realised they did their sums wrong, and now are trying to gazunder me. It is only 2k - so far - but the reason is just stupid, as they knew all along I didn't have building regs for a garage conversion that was done before I bought it. They were already planning to redo it when they made the offer. Now they are saying they need to knock off 2k as they didn't realise it needed work.

I always thought their offer was too high, as it was only 2k less than what we were going to sell if for on the open market, and that was only cause there wouldn't be any estate agent fee's so it worked out the same. They are estate agents though so who was I to question their maths ;) especially when I could have waited a year or more for someone else to come and buy it.

I'm waiting for my solicitor to call me back, but I think I'll have to pay it. Thank god for emergency funds and the like. I guess I won't be buying a new couch straight away now though, and will be having guests on deck chairs for a couple of months, rather than a couple of weeks.

Hopefully though this means we're closer to finally exchanging as if we miss that stamp duty dead line, there is no way I have enough to help pay towards that.

So annoying and could have been there tactic all along. You could grit your teeth and say you'll meet them halfway?
