I'm not advocating the buying of counterfeits, simply pointing out that it's not always illegal to do so.
The French/Italian rules are frightening, a 10,000 Euro fine for buying a handbag or a pair of sunglasses:eek: Many years ago my wife bought a handbag on a market stall for £10 or so, when we got home someone commented on her "really expensive" bag, only then did she find out it was a designer brand that usually retailed for over £1000!!
Not being a "fashion victim" she didn't have a clue it was an expensive brand that was obviously priced way too low to be the real thing. But it seems the French & Italians really expect everyone to be brand aware and be able to tell that an item is a fake expensive brand.
At least it's now an excuse not to waste holiday time shopping0
