"Look under the bonnet and you see Peugeot stamps on components and the ECU, Immobiliser etc are the same as Citroens."
Which doesn't necessarily mean they are French. ECU could be Bosch, other electronics/electrics could be Japanese (Denso?).
"but all the other electric bits are French" really? Do you have any information/links to back that up?
I own a French Yaris, does that mean all the electrics/electronics/components in that are French and doomed to failure then? The Yaris is one of the most reliable and bullet proof cars in existence. Even the French ones.:)0 -
Think I'll forget an Aygo!
Fiesta still sounds good.
Any comments on a Picanto?0 -

Please dont rule out the Aygo. My company ran the Citroen C1 s for three years as fleet cars .we really drive our cars hard, ( meter reading, stop start all day 6 days a week ) Up to then the Citroen C1,aka Aygo, Peugeot 107, was easily the best little car we ve had in our company .Mine was hammered to 50 thousand miles inits three years and never had any breakdowns. I d would definitely keep any of those three models in view. I remember Top Gear doing a little skitty review of the trio with James May ending up saying , buy the Peugeot 107 as it was the cheapest of the three
We now run Skoda Citigo and that is even more impressive than the C1, lovely gear box, cruises easily at 75, does 60mpg if you try hard, drives and steers spot on. I wish It had been my first car instead of the awful Ford Anglia ! Don t go for the Fiat 500 ever !, I had a brand new one for a week and can t understand why anyone would ever buy one. Looks cute but is dreadful to drive.0 -
Ok, I'll think about those three.
Can anyone give me an idea what kind of reg/mileage I should be able to get for £2500?0 -
Look on the autotrader - you will see what you can get for your money.0

Buying privately, a better car than you'll get buying from a dealership - a dealership car at £2500 will have to have some profit in for the dealership, so it's an older car/higher mileage car than you'd get for the same money privately.0 -
Look at the Hyundai i10, a great little car. I'm on my second i10 now, just bought a new 65 plate, previous one was 6 years old.0

At that age/price range, it'll be dependent on the one you find she likes look of and appears reasonably well looked after. all are ok, choices.
BUT..I would urge you to consider not buying until she passed test. so much disappointment, if it takes a couple of attempts, when HER car is just sitting there, waiting to be used.
Plus insurance will be a bit less costly, once passed.

Check the insurance costs, they will vary on those.
When i tried some quotes KIA's came out quite expensive.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I'm not sure that's right, I've seen quite a few threads on here about people being shocked at the increase in premium after passing their test, the reason being that they can then drive on their own rather than supervised, so are far more likely to have an accident.0
