I have narrowed down my search...

...for a car for a learner driver to either:

Toyota Aygo
Kia Picanto
Ford Fiesta

All with a 1 litre / 1.1 engine.

I have a budget of about £2000. Any ideas what kind of reg/mileage I can expect to get with that budget? I am overwhelmed by the choice!

I'm near Bristol by the way.

Thanks
Maureen

Are you learning to drive in this car?
    Manual or automatic?
  • My 17 year old will be learning to drive in it.

Manual without a doubt! Sorry, I forgot to include that.
  • Dont rule out the Skoda Citgo (or VW UP ! ) if you can get one for 2k.. Its the best small car I ve driven.

Check any Aygo of an age where it is £2,000 for letting water in. Early ones suffered real problems. Remove the spare wheel and see if the wheel well is rusty.

By 5 years old I gave up on trying to keep the water out of ours. Front and rear door seals, rear tailgate and rear lights all had failed seals. The electrics were showing their French heritage and were also starting to fail.

Don't forget the C1 and 107 are the same car so you may find a better one of these.

What vehicle will they be learning in? Some vehicles have controls on the opposite side so may hinder their progress.

Sticking the wipers on instead of indicating wont go down well on their test.

Not much French about the Aygo or C1, built in Czech Republic in Kolin

Since when did the place where something is assembled reflect where the parts were actually designed?

The Aygo etc has a Japanese engine and gearbox (actually a Diahatsu design), but all the other electric bits are French.

Look under the bonnet and you see Peugeot stamps on components and the ECU, Immobiliser etc are the same as Citroens.
