Morning all
It's looking really gloomy and miserable here too fire**fly, and that's only the hubby!the weather is looking dark and cloudy too!
Still, I've chanced putting my washing out as forecast said it was 13deg and just cloudy.
Haha Sylviawe all used to go to dads to print off stuff too.
But dad was like you and would do anything for anyone :A Have a good day with GD.
Not long for your break now Sheils. I love Blackpool when the lights are on but it does get really busy. Hope your gas gets turned back on soon. When they were doing our road they always started at 9 and finished by 3pm. Hope your mums ok, I'm off to see mine soon. She's so down and lonely we barely get a conversation from her nowadays.
Hope you have a good day Alfie, indie & Rose
I've started getting a few presents in for chrimbo but sons taste in clothes is so expensive! For the few presents he has asked for (tracksuit, trainers, footy boots) costs a lot. He is in adult sizes too so that makes it worse! It's all down to stereotyping and looking 'cool' with his friends as they are all wearing designer clothes. At least DD1 loves primark anyway!Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -
Well I am well p****d off I can tell you.
On 1st September I had what I thought was a wonderful prize from Cosmopolitan Daily Mag for tickets to the Wedding show, which promptly arrived and 1ct diamond, 18ct gold earrings.
After an email about 3 weeks ago they said they were making them and that I should receive them in about 2 weeks. After chasing this up again I have had the following email:
(I have left their name out for the time being)
Dear Sylvia
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately we are in dispute with Good Results at the moment. When we were initially approached by Good Results who were the organisers of this prize through Cosmopolitan, we were promised that we would get very good media publicity and a list of all entrants who signed up. We generously offered a pair of our IQ Diamond earrings set in 18k gold which retail at £1400 in return for a good amount of brand awareness and a contact list, which would have been invaluable to us. We have not had any of what was agreed and now they are requesting over £700 for the contact list, which we are obviously not willing to do]All I can say is that we are very sorry that you seem to be caught up in the middle of all of this and we sincerely regret this situation. However, I hope you can appreciate we are a very small business with a wonderful product an great potential, but we are not in a position to give “something for nothing” and as a matter of principle, we cannot fulfil our side of the arrangement without any form of benefit to our company in return.
I would suggest that you write to Good Results and let them know your feelings about this situation. Hopefully they will understand that small businesses simply cannot afford to give away high value items of stock without some sort of benefit in return and because of their unfairness, we are regrettably caught between a rock and a hard place.]I am sorry that we could not deliver better news to you.
With warmest wishes
BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO POST THE COMPETITIONS0 -
Omg Sylvia that's awful. I would definitively email Good Results to see if they can resolve it and if not perhaps inform the IPM (I think that's what it's called) and let the companies involved know you are informing them. Hope you manage to get your prize xxBig thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0

That is awful Sylvia , really upsetting for you. Hope you can get it fixed.
Glad I don't need to buy DS3's clothes anymore wingo. His tastes are extortionate!
Gas workers have just been to switch Gas back on but mission not completed as their plans of pipes are wrong so they couldn't do the job without cutting off the next street! Might be next week or the week after before they can continue as they need to get permission. Got heaing on now anyway.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

 Hellooeee everyone!
I hope you're all ok.
sylv - so sorry to hear of upset on not receiving
the remainder of your prize - how dreadful! I would do
as others have suggested and email the company (GR) - it's
such a shame that you have been caught up in the middle
of their dispute!!!
wingo - how awful to hear of the dog attack - how can people
be so cruel? _pale_ Thank goodness they found the culprits
responsible ..... can't believe they are 60 years old!!! I
would like to think they'll be dealt with harshly!I know
what I would like to do to them!
Re ladybirds - crikes - we've been getting various reports on
our local news of the invasion of the little blighters - it
seems they're everywhere!
Harmonia axyridis, most commonly known as the harlequin, multicolored Asian, or simply Asian ladybeetle, is a large coccinellid beetle. This is one of the most variable species in the world, with an exceptionally wide range of color forms. It is native to eastern Asia, but has been artificially introduced to North America and Europe to control aphids and scale insects. It is now common, well known, and spreading in those regions, and has also established in South Africa and widely across South America.
This species is conspicuous in North America where it may locally be known as the Halloween ladybeetle. It earns this name as it often invades homes during October, in order to prepare for overwintering.
Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonia_axyridis
Facts about Harlequins, provided by Buglife, that might make you a little less inclined to welcome them:
There are over 100 different colour patterns recorded which makes it difficult to identify
They often out-compete our native ladybirds for food as the Harlequin doesn't stick to one type of food. Once it has finished feeding on aphids in the crops it then turns its attention to other ladybird eggs and larvae and even the eggs and caterpillars of moths and butterflies.
They are most certainly the reason why our Two-spot Ladybird is now so scarce.
They hibernate in large numbers in houses and other buildings. There have been cases of tens of thousands of ladybirds being found in homes during the winter.
In the spring the ladybirds become active again and look for a way out of the house, meaning you might be suddenly petrified by thousands of tiny insects scuttling through your house.:eek:
Did you know?
Harlequin ladybirds are the most invasive ladybird species on earth. Female harlequin ladybirds can begin to lay eggs five days after becoming an adult and a single female can lay over a thousand eggs in her lifetime.:eek:
The ladybirds also feed on grapes so they are often found in vineyards which, of course, becomes a problem for wine production. _pale_
"Their powerful, defensive chemicals can affect the taste of wine if they get trapped in the production process.":eek::eek:
Lol fire**fly - just love the 'thermal underwear' cartoon you

The last two on the third row of your pic Alfie are the ones we had invading our house last year! There were loads of them. They seemed to be crawling through a little hole in the wall so hopefully it's covered up now. No wonder I felt ill after my wine :whistle:Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums.
