  • Good morning, thank you Dumpling for starting us off.

It is cold and bright here as well. Himself has been out for a paper, I have showered and washed my hair and I just have the bathroom to clean. Washing and housework is up to date, am expecting DGD1 home sometime today she has been away for the weekend.

We are having lamb this evening with lots of veg. Dumpling I have sent for the Michael Mosely book because I know for a fact we eat too many carbs and I too am hoping this will give me the incentive to be good and sensible.

Both of us have to have repeat blood tests this week so must make our way to the hospital. I don't mind going it is the parking issue that drives me mad. No matter what time of the day we go it is a trial trying to find a parking space. We tend to go really early before the clinics start, but then of course all the poor workers are on the road. Hey Ho I don't think there is an answer to it.

Judi my sympathies, our poor golden retriever very often had an upset tummy, it is not nice to clean up. The op has probably upset her whole system I hope she is feeling better today.

    Have a good day all

DGD Holly has also gone to New York but separately with her friend, hey are staying in an holiday apartment ,whereas my DD and her OH are in an hotel. They all love going there in the february and October half term and the weather is never very good, but they are serious retail shopaholics the whole family !!! shopping is my idea of hell TBH but each to their own

Youngest Tribes are on half term this week and I think we are going to Canterbury on Wednesday as Mikey want to see the Thomas a'Beckett tomb. I do hope it warms up a bit though as its really very cold and I have the heating on full blast.
Right off to do my menus for the week and listen to the Archers

  • Morning All

What a glorious morning, blue sky and the sun splitting the sky. Very cold with a hard frost but beautiful, the mountains are covered in snow. Gers, you should have a lovely drive up today.

Yesterday say rain, hail and quite a bit of snow but not enough to stop us doing anything.

DD came over and we visited a friend and her 3 year old boy, gosh what a livewire! At one point he accidentally fell onto my thigh with his elbow and I can barely walk this morning, now I know what a dead leg feels like! I usually see the wee boy with his Granny, he must associate me with her and called me Gran all afternoon much to DDs amusement.

I've made soup this morning and some carrot and swede mash to use up the sad looking veg. Also made some egg muffins with pepper, courgette, tomato and chilli - very tasty too. There are enough to last all week. Can you tell I'm trying to be healthy!

Judi - Sorry you've had such a bad night.
Gers - So sorry to hear of your friend's passing.
Hope the poorlies feel better soon.

Have a good Sunday, I'm off out with a friend for lunch as it's her birthday. Take care. XX

Think it was the painkillers that upset 'Ginges' tum. The vet warned that it might but its a wound that needs to be kept clean and dry. No chance of that if she's got loose bowels so ive told hubby that I'll see what she is like without the painkillers. Any doubt that she is in pain though she will have to keep taking it and i'll have to take the consequences. I'm bathing it if its dirty with salt water and cotton wool pads.

My Grandson has gone home and the house has been cleaned up as best i can until tomorrow.

This afternoon i shall be cooking a meal for the men to take to work tomorrow and preparing a weeks worth of packed lunches.

Ive got some fresh fruit for Mom but physically and mentally, i dont think i can cope with a visit. We will see.

My daughter has messaged me. She's had to give my Grandson more ibuprofen as he is burning up.

Hubby, well he's gone back to bed.

    Hi all,

Slow start today, I,m being spoilt this weekend, DH cooked us a lovely meal last night, and then this morning we had warm croissant and coffee in bed, and I got some chocolates and beautiful flowers, I got him his favourite chocolate gingers.

Judi - hope pup feels better soon - don,t envy you that particular morning task - I remember when our dog would have an accident, he,d look so guilty - not their fault X

Gers - sorry to hear about your friend X

LW - so glad all that effort came good X

Roast chicken here today, with all the trimmings - box brand trifle for pud (DH,s fav).

Ohhh DH has just presented me with a Kir Royal - be rude to say no ;)

I'm home again, what a glorious drive it was too. Bright sunshine with lovely white tops on the mountains at the Rest. Makes me glad that I live here.

Thanks for the thoughts about my friend. He worked in TV all his life and was very much the sparkler in our group. Always up for throwing exquisite dinner parties and arranging get-togethers. But now at least he's out of his suffering. No word on arrangements yet.

When I arrived home I found a single rose on the doorstep, all wrapped up with water. It made me smile a lot. It's not from OH as he's 500 miles away just now and not in the least bit romantic. I have a fair guess who it's from (via his parents!) so not too much of a mystery.

Right, need to unpack and set up the new printer. I've also asked advice about the upstairs laptop on the tech forum so must go and see what they say.

    cheers

Oh dear, poor little "Ginge". I'll run some more healing for her, and hopefully she'll be painfree and her tummy will settle very soon.

Millie's settled in well; she has to wear a muzzle on her walks, as she's not good with other dogs, and if she's sniffed at (iyswim) she will go for the sniffer. A lot of the local dogs know me, and associate me with them getting a fuss, so hopefully the muzzle will a) give the owners the heads-up that my current guest isn't friendly, and b) keep the other dogs safe if they do approach Millie.

In the garden, though, we can let her run around without the muzzle - it's all enclosed with a six-foot fence, so completely safe. She had a grand time earlier today, chasing a tennis ball out there.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Lovely morning with blue sky but early afternoon it tried very hard to snow!!!!

DDs and SIL came to help me clear shed and garage a bit more and stayed for lunch. I made a veg and gammon soup for starters and SW ham and cheese chicken or hangar steak cooked with button mushrooms and onions with roast potatoes, red cabbage with onion and apple and broccoli , cabbage and sugar snap peas.

We went down to the small supermarket this afternoon and I got a couple of packs of four chicken thighs for 40 pence each and a lamb joint that should have been over £6 for £2!!! Meat is now in the freezer for another day.

Gave my dds some homemade freezer meals to take back home and enjoying myself watching Pride and Prejudice with a cup of tea.

I need to look out some clothes for a salvation army bag to be picked up on Tuesday which will save some packing up. The footbridge is now open so I can take documents to the lawyer tomorrow.

Middle dd is hinting that she really likes my lasagne, chicken noodles, cottage pie etc for next time I freeze something ;)

Hugs to all and stay warm.
