O/S Daily Sunday 14th February 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone :hello:
I got woken up with a cramp in my ankle of all places so I thought I would get up and start the daily as a way of distracting myself.
I am listening to a local radio station called 'the Voice' and it's actually playing loads of my favourite songs and a lot of stuff that I haven't heard for years. It's always amazing to me how the lyrics will pop back into your mind even when you haven't heard the song for many years. I love music so much, it's been a huge part of my life. I like mostly every style but 70's and 80's pop has a very special place in my heart and mind.
My shopping is being delivered this morning so once I have put it away I will have lots of food to choose from. Yesterday was quite hard but hubby came up trumps making a bolognese sauce with lots of veg in it so I could have some. I made myself some carrot 'spaghetti' but managed to shred my fingers on the julienne peeler so I have bought myself a small spiraliser from Amazon. It looks like a giant pencil sharpener so I am hopeful my fingers will stay intact.
Well I hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Hello everyone and Dumpling, thank you for starting off.
I have been up for an hour or so after a better night, a real plus. Washing is ready to go out but I will wait until it is light. Yesterday's hoovering and mopping seems to have attracted more grubbiness, the sitting room floor is in need of another go but hoovering this early seems mean to sleeping family.
I don't have realost plans today, have been told that I am not cooking, I can read, knit and potter, lovely.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
dumpling - thanks for starting us off
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, looks like being blustery again but can't tell whether we've had a frost or not, wind was so cold yesterday.
Dinner last night was chicken and prawns in black bean sauce, egg and veg fried rice and noodles - not massive plate fulls but plenty and enjoyed by us all. At lunchtime I served wraps - I cooked some breaded chicken pieces and bacon, then put salad, chicken, bacon and grated cheese into each wrap, served with choice of HM coleslaw/pasta salad, was delicious and enjoyed by us all, so a definite meal for future use. We all got up quite early (boys included) went to the bank, then straight on to my parents, spent some time there, mum wasn't very coherent but a relation (on my dad's side of the family) is very poorly in hospital - we knew they were in hospital but not that it was this bad, they're now in critical care and all their family are visiting/have visited from their respective homes in this country and abroad - I said something about at least they'll get them sorted and can then start to get better, and the sad look I got from my parents gives me the impression that it's unlikely they're going to recover - so sad as this is the last close relative on my dad's side - my parents have been at the hospital every day and visiting is pretty much unrestricted although only 2 visitors per bed at any one time, hoping this doesn't go the way it looks like. DH's relative who's not well, is not doing too badly and is still with us and treatment is ongoing, they are staying positive. We just chilled yesterday and watched the rugby once we'd got home, we also visited DH's parents briefly.
I'm cooking lunch of roast pork and roast chicken, with all the normal extras for lunch today - the outlaws are coming for lunch - as it was MIL's 70th birthday whilst they were away on holidays. Will chill after lunch.
Have peaceful Sundays' everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. Thanks DUMPLING for starting us off. A fine but VERY cold day is forecast for us. I must do some washing as the basket is, once again, overflowing, but I think it will go on the airer upstairs.
Not much planned for today. I have a small gammon joint to cook for lunch and some leftover chicken curry in the fridge which will do later for supper. So quite an easy cooking day in store.
I suppose at some point I ought to drag out the ironing basket but I feel to have no get up and go just now. I'm blaming it on winter dragging on and hope I get a bit more energy when Spring comes along.
Have a nice day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Take care and keep warm xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Well what a night! I went to bed relatively early to make up for lost sleep however my Grandson in his bed next to me was very restless. He woke up several times crying and had several bottles of milk one after the other and seemed hot. Luckily I'd got some infant painkiller so was able to give him some. He wanted a drink, then wanted a wee. Then couldn't sleep.
I kicked hubby out of bed at 1.30 as Ginge wanted to go out. Then she decided it was cold so she just looked at the open door. Instead of waiting hubby swore a few times and came back to bed.
Back down the stairs for another nappy I found 'Ginge' had diorreah all over the hall carpet. I cursed hubby for not having the patience to wait when he let her out and then got up as much of it as I could as Youngest would go skating in it when he came home.
At 3am I had to let the other dog out and at 5 Grandson decided he wanted to get up but I persuaded him to play with his tablet a bit. Raa Raa was loud but at least he stayed put for a while.
So...the house is a tip. The hall looks like a toilet and both me and hubby are shattered (but at least I'm not unpleasant with it). Hubby is going to clean the carpet as he didn't have to clean up the dog poo.
Onwards and forwards

Morning all,
Raining here atm and very blustery off to work for me which will hopefully be quiet due to the weather.
OH in charge of domestics today there is a nice bit of pork in the fridge to do a roast and plenty of veg / potatoes. Yesterday he made a beautiful chicken casserole, it really was very lovely it had shallots and leeks in and wine lentils etc, which we had with crusty bread, was very tasty indeed.
Wont be fit for too much by the time I get in tonight but will wash my work t-shirts and get them dried.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
It's damp here and still only 3 degrees but it's not actually raining yet, as it rained nonstop all day yesterday I'm hoping for a dryer day today.
The fish have been fed, hubby has a cuppa, he won't get up just yet as he's tired from covering extra shifts.
Plans for today include vacuuming the stairs, putting the dry washing away, washing the door mat, cooking beef wellington, tidying a kitchen cupboard and steaming the downstairs floors.
Then it will be back to the crochet in front of the TV watching Happy Valley and Vera.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone.
Cold and bright here. Glasgow had flurries of wet snow yesterday and showers of hard piercing rain. After doing mum's shopping in Wa*trose first thing I drove into town, parked at Buchanan Galleries, bought what I wanted and was back at mums' in under an hour!
On the way back I stopped at a local shop and bumped into the partner of my newly deceased friend. We had a wee weep together.
Then I spent the rest of the day lazing and reading. Mum keeps her place very hot so it makes me less inclined to do very much, and very lovely it was too.
Today I'll be heading home in late morning. I'll drop into my friends house for a cup of tea before hand. The weather is forecast to be bright with sunshine. Freezing cold sunshine!
Judi - poor old ginge, and poor old you too.
Dumpling - my love is music too. Tony Blackburn's show on a Saturday afternoon is a joy. It's always a shock when I can sing along with 40 year old songs.
I hope everyone has a good Sunday. Happy Valentine's Day if you go for that kind of thing.0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry and bright morning here with no frost, girls have been out and am now enjoying first cuppa of the day, ginger and lemon tea today and very nice it is too.
Have woken up with a bit of a cough / tight chest, one week back at work and have picked up a lurgy, typical
Not loads on today, have a chicken to roast, not sure if either of my DSS's are coming over, depends on what they were up to last night, other than that it's the Archers omnibus and will make some mincemeat flapjack as have a jar open in the fridge.
It's showjumping over the yard today so will be busy, will wait until later when hopefully the crowds have gone to see Bill.
Judi what a night, poor you, hope you get a chance for a nana nap x
Take care everyone and have a good day x0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, sounds like a few of you do.
We had a heavy frost overnight, I woke at one point and Oh had wrapped himself in the duvet, I was freezing, had a tussle to get some of it back.
It was my Grand daughters engagement party last night, seems everyone had a good time, a few pictures on FB this morning. We did not go for various reasons.
I finished knitting last night. Managed to get the jacket, hat and booties out of the yarn, there might just be enough for the booties ties.
Have to nip into town this morning, will lay the fire ready to light when we get back. The sun is out so it will take the chill off the sitting room.
Roast beef for supper tonight. The Brussels tops I did last night went down very well, will use them again. Now does any one know a use for the stalk??? Lol.
Pictures of the comppleted knitting on my blog, address is at the bottom of the post.
Dinner eaten and enjoyed, the bread and butter pudding was delicious....enough left for supper tomorrow.0
