Duplicate contacts on new phone?

I've just had to buy a new mobile, as the internal speaker gave up on the old one.

Anyway, I got an Alcatel Onetouch, which seems a good, cheap phone, for what I want.

I copied the contacts list from the old phone, onto the SIM, then transferred it onto the new phone.

Everything went fine, except, when I call up contacts on the new phone, all the contacts are duplicated, giving me two copies of every contact :huh:

How can I hide/remove the duplicates, without spending hours, deleting them one at a time?

Copied the contacts to the SIM and the phones memory so it shows duplicates, set to only show phone contacts or sim contacts.

EDIT: Cancel that last question. I've found it.

It's under Contacts>Settings>Display Mode.
