What are the best USB devices for storing about a 1000 photos/videos from my IPhone 4s. Also have a hard drive but I want them on a USB for added protection.

A usb powered external hard drive
Google Western Digital Elements portable for one example0 -
1000 photos would fit on a pendrive. The size you'd need depends on resolution and compression.
I'd guess at ~ 3MB each so a ting 4GB pendrive costing about £3 to £5 for a good quality one would do it but probably better to go for bigger.0 -
What ChiefGrasscutter suggested plus a 16 GB or 32 GB USB Flash drive.
1000 photos at 10 MB per photo would required 10 GB of space. Your calculations may vary!0 -

Flash memory isn't as reliable as a mechanical hard drive for archiving purposes.
So I'd get an external USB hard drive. I'd also go for a Western Digital one -- maybe one from the Passport range?0 -
There is a HUGE difference between 1000 photos and 1000 videos. And even "1000 videos" is meaningless as 1 video can easily take more than 1Gb. 1000Gb=1Tb
Correctors should themselves be correct, or they will get corrected by some pedant or other!0 -
If you want to transfer them directly from a mobile device then you need a USB memory stick that supports "On the Go". You can get them with two connectors, one micro-usb connector for phones, one normal usb for computers.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

If you're lucky, you may still find a 32GB USB dongle in Tesco Extra for £6. All were sold out in our store this evening (yellow SEL).There is also a HUGE difference (actually a factor of eight) between a Gb (gigabit) and a GB (gigabyte).

(Apologies if I've got you mixed up with someone else, Grumbler!)0
