    If he has been in a kennel he may well be used to going when he needs, where he had to. He may never have learned to hold on.

    Does he get a good long walk before being left with plenty of time to empty. A quick trip into the garden immediately after breakfast is not enough.

    He has only recently come to live with you. He does not know the routine or when someone will be back to let him out.

    More information may be of use

    Did you check that he would be suitable to be left for such a long time? Some dogs are , some are not.

    Did you accustom him to being left before leaving him for the full 6 hours?

    Does he ask out when he needs when someone is at home?

    What is he fed on?
    Some cheap food contain a lot of bulk which mean more waste product to come out? When you gotta go, you gotta go. A better quality food me help.
