Well done on OP'ing :T:T
You and me both on the food, just spend £40 :eek::eek: £16 of which was fruit :eek:................going to L*dl I think next week :T
Fruit costs are the Bain of my life here, every day we get through 3 apples, 3 bananas, a tub of grapes, 2 kiwis, 3 nectarines.....I love the fact that my lot take fruit with them every day but trying to buy enough to last seems never ending! On top of that youngest DD is a veggie so will have a smoothie every day containing strawberries, raspberries, mangoes....... (I can't stand fruit so I never eat it)0 -
Do you find L!dl fruit lasts SueP19, on the odd occasion I shop in there the fruit seems to turn really quickly, especially the berries?0

Exhausted today so apart from work/train runs I haven't done anything! DH is cooking dinner, a nice easy one of YS venison steaks (never had these before so hope I like it) and some home made chips!
Nationwides fast payment system must be on a go slow as the overpayment made yesterday still isn't showing in my account
Going to meal plan tomorrow for the next week and see if this can help me get back on track with food spending and inspiration, I always struggle to decide what to cook so hoping a 'rough' idea might help. Tomorrow is roast pork, picked up in Ald! with 30% off so dinner tomorrow will cost £5 for 3 of us and I will have some left over for sweet and sour on Tuesday :j0 -
Mortgage payment has gone through so the balance today is £93,564.20 :j:j:j
I was very restrained this morning, I had to pop to Costc0 for some cat food, fussy animals have now decided Whiskas is the only cat food they will eat so bought that, 2 X 2 litres of milk, some bananas and a triple pack of Spinach and Ricotta pasta so only spent £22.01.........I resisted the crisp and chocolate aisle! :rotfl:
DH in the process of cooking roast pork for dinner so I also have another day off of cooking today :T0 -

Believe me......cats can be fussy but they will not starve :rotfl: I think what we have found is that eventually they see to get bored of every type of cat food and then we just mix it up.....if it's meat they will eventually eat it!Mortgage when started October 2011 : £94,134
Total mortgage balance Mar 2016 [STRIKE]£78,417[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£77,523[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£76,181[/STRIKE] £72,001

Lol, the last time I refused to feed them anything other than what I had in, they went 4 days without eating and then decided it was time to 'teach' me so brought in 1 dead mouse, 1 live mouse and a bird! I soon learnt the error of my ways! :rotfl:0 -
Mortgage checked and interest of £4.71 added so the balance today is £93,568.91 :j
A NSD day today so very pleased with that. I have a hospital appointment which will involve a local anaesthetic and a small bit of surgery tomorrow which I am really not looking forward to but it will mean another NSD as I certainly won't fancy going out afterwards :eek:0 -
Hospital visit didn't require anything as it seems to have resolved itself! :j
However, that did mean a spend day for me as DD2 is at college on Tuesday's and its 40 miles each way. When she comes out of college she is always starving hungry and to appease the beast, I always take a flask of hot chocolate, some crisps and a piece of chocolate......the hours journey back would be torture if I didn't take anything so £2 well spent! :rotfl:
Looking like I may need to invest in a new water butt as my big one has a small leak, I have managed to put the water from it into other containers so hoping DH can fix it. This 'paying off the mortgage' lark gets very addictive as I question everything I need to buy now and always think 'maybe I should pay that off the mortgage instead'! :rotfl:0 -
It has been while since I last posted here and life has changed a bit! I am now back to work full time and loving it, this means we have more money to hopefully throw at the mortgage :j
When I started this thread in 2016 my balance was £94394.80 and on the 1 January this year, it was £87778.09 so only a difference of £6,616.71
Our mortgage is still interest only but I am hoping to make a payment each month that totals what the monthly payment would be if it was a repayment mortgage and with any luck a little more can be added on. Our monthly interest payment is £117.24 a month and so far, in January, I have overplayed by £332.76 :T
Hope you don't mind me stopping back in but hoping this diary can re motivate me as I really do want this gone!0 -
Checked mortgage balance today and it's £87411. 48 :j
We have a loft ladder being fitted in the next ouple of weeks which will cost £260.00 but it will make getting up there easier and I am still hoping to make a payment of £500.00 once I get paid at the end of the month, would have liked to pay £760 but I need to make some home improvements
Hope everyone is making headway on their own mortgage free challenges.0
