Hi all,
I have decided to bulk buy essentials like washing powder, loo roll etc to see if i can cut my weekly shop.
I have for a while now been bulk buying meat monthly from a local wholesale butcher and I get our fruit and veg again from a local wholesaler which is much cheaper.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips on where to purchase these items? I have very sensitive skin so ideally non-bio only with washing powder. Also cheese....we use alot of cheese in our house lol
Thanks all in advance :-)0 -
Have a quick dekko at the Costco & Makro thread?
I bulk buy:
loo roll
kitchen roll
non-bio washing powder
pepsi max (can & 2L bottles)
baked beans
chopped tomatoes
plum tomatoes
rice
sugar
balsamic vinegar
peppercorns
I used to get bricks of Cheddar & my family "went off" the stuff... And outgrew the need for nappies!
Just have your storage ready First... Also track say three months shopping and prices so you can prove to yourself that it's working - or not!0 -
Hi,
Thanks for that. Storage is somewhat of a problem but im sure I can sort something! I looked on the makro site and I thought it was just businesses? I will search for the threads now!
By keep track do you mean shop as I would normally for a while first?
TBH I've really cut my shopping down and after my bulk buy of meat and my 18 rolls of nicky loo roll I can get my shopping to £40-45 p/week for 4 of us and a cat lol0 -
Check out B&M Bargains for cheap stuff. But if you want branded goods in bulk then Costco is good.
For Costco you need to work in certain fields to be eligible http://warehouses.costco.co.uk/membership/#lightbox-indiv0 -
No, unless you count buying 2-3, as I just don't have the space. Although if I had a spare room or really large cupboard I think I could quite easily become a BB.0

We bulk buy a number of items including loo roll, kitchen roll, coffee, sugar, tinned tomatoes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, fem hygiene products, dental products, soap powder, fabric conditioner, washing up liquid and cat food.
Supermarket promotions usually come round every 3 months and I often take advantage when stores have their "events" in play like Spring Clean and Pet events.
Storage isn't a problem for us and, so far, I've found that doing things this way has save us a decent amount.January Food Budget: £0/ £500

Hey guys,
This is my first post here. I was wondering whether anybody has tried buying food and other stuff in bulk to cut costs? If you haven't tried doing this why not, is it considered to be a bad strategy?
Thanks for your help!0 -
I love Costco! Most of the things that we get in bulk are branded and work out much cheaper than buying elsewhere. Check out their offers to get some ideas of pricing http://warehouses.costco.co.uk/offers/0
