Morning guys  thanks for starting the thread ally
I haven't been around the last couple of days as have been at death's door with this cold. Wow I felt shocking and having dgd yesterday was a challenge! Feeling a lot better now, although not 100%. Working tonight so taking it easy today.
Cat hope you're last day before your break is fairly uneventful except for appointing some new colleagues
Bob hope you are on the mend. I have found it hard having my little owl whilst being ill but keeping it simple helps. The house and all the usual extras went out the window
(poor oh having days at work not feeling great and then coming home to look after dgd and clear up the house :A
PaceThePixie - really sad to hear your situation. Hope it comes to a natural conclusion soon for you x
Ok quick think of things I need to do and then get one
* check banking
* having my daily mocha at home rather than spending £££ on getting one at a coffee shop
* load of washing & hang up
* all meals from stores
* made a big batch of porridge this morning as I was hungry but turns out my eyes are bigger than my belly so will put it in the fridge when it's cooled for tomorrow
* possibly walk down to the post office - need to post a couple of thank you cards and pay in my wages. Just don't want to walk down there and find it's taken too much out of me...
* freeze some things in the fridge that haven't been used since I've been ill...
* want to plant some seeds today - inspired by Mrs F's blog post :j boo hoo have realised I can't plant any until April as we are going away for 3 weeks mid march (Brazil :j:j:j:j) so best to just wait I think....
* possibly look for new BB & phone supplier
That's it I think. Have a great day xDF as at 30/12/16

Jonno - Hmmm, that's a point. I'm not sure HOW his sealed pot is going because he hasn't mentioned it at all recently......which means one of two things. He's either not had many 50ps or £2 coins to put in it.....OR, he's been stuffing it with coinage willy-nilly & it's a big state secret. Think I may have a little sneaky open of his wardrobe & give it a rattle.
DNMS - Hope you get your seeds in. It feels so positive getting the first ones sown. Am still amazed anyone could be inspired by my drivel, but there you are. Glad your cold is better. I had a shocking cold last week too, In the end, I could do nothing, as my nose needed blowing approx every 3 seconds & my eyes just ran & ran like I'd been sobbing for a week! Better now, though, apart from bad sinuses in the mornings.
Ziggy - I think that anniversary will always call to mind what a shocking unexpected thing it was, bringing you face to face with your mortality, but you know, it could have been much, much worse, so although this might sound a weird way of looking at it, I think you should actually celebrate that day somehow, when it comes around each day. If it were me, I think I'd go to somewhere very tranquil, tie a little ribbon to an ancient tree & say 'Thank-you'.
OK, better get my list up & crack on.....

It's Friday Frugalistas!!
Catlady - You have approx 4 hours left till the weekend. Yay!!
Woke up with another headache. I'm sure it's all the gunk left behind after my awful cold last week bunging up my head & all the fresh air I intend to get this weekend will help with that. Felt ok as soon as I was up & about. mr f bunged a plateful of beans on toast & a huge coffee in my general direction & I soon perked up. Today's money-saving activity:
*mr f wasn't due in work till 10am today which meant I fitted in a quick trip to Waitrose first thing. Free take-away coffees for both of us, free 'Guardian' & picked up the cream & chocolate I need to make dessert for our Valentine's Day meal tomorrow night.
*Cleaned whole house using minimal products & washable microfibre cloths. (I pretty much just use Stardrops diluted in an old spray bottle, or neat on really grotty jobs & Aldi loo cleaner).
*Did a couple of surveys. Might have done more but couldn't access Toluna this morning as my password was 'incorrect' (it wasn't, so they may be having IT issues).
*Did one job off my Annoying Things List (I would actually need to go & fetch my calculator to work out the number of times I have walked past it over the last couple of years. Ridiculous!) Aiming to do another Annoying Thing later.....this is reliant on me being able to find a mislaid item. Then mending it (or delegating it to mr f to mend as he has a good deal more patience with malfunctioning gizmos than I do). Small spend possible if mending isn't possible, which means it will be transferred to Annoying Things List 2 - those that will cost a small amount of money.
*Ran the washing machine on half-load to sort out cat's grubby blanket. Would prefer to run washer on cheap night tariff, but today looks dry enough to peg it out on the line......basically, the sooner it's back on the sofa, the sooner cat will stop giving me the sad-eye.
*Dough in the bread machine for bread rolls & possibly a couple of mini-pizzas as we are going on a couple of snowdrop walks at the weekend & will be taking a picnic.
*Make aforementioned dessert for tomorrow, as needs setting time in the fridge. Can finish it off with whipped cream just before I serve it. Not money-saving in itself, but it is when you consider what it would cost us to go out somewhere nice for a Valentine's Day meal. We got a free bottle of Prossecco from Sainsbury's which we have saved, too.
*Emptied out the toaster, which provided free breakfast for our robins, who seemed ridiculously excited by this crumby largesse.
*Sow aubergine seed. It's out of date seed, but I want to give it a chance. If I get it in early, I'll still have time to buy new & re-sow if insufficient numbers of the old seeds germinate. I only grow on 5 plants max, & usually have to give one of those away to make space, so I'll sow it & see how it goes.
As for today's leisure activities,.........all free. Will continue knitting sock, watch tonight's 'Shetland' - really enjoying that, I like a puzzle to try & solve, free 'Guardian' to read, also library book to finish.
Have a good day all,

Thank you so much for your kind words, I feel so much better now I seem to have "come round" properly and have decided that this is exactly what I'm going to do - celebrate this day and be thankfulGoodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

Hi All
Ziggy - thinking of you. I know you still suffer a lot from your attack. And yet you still find time to make others feel looked after. Let those that love you do the same though as much as you can. Hugs.
I am so sorry to hear that so many on here are feeling bad at the moment. We really are a poorly bunch. Or grappling with big painful issues. I hope everyone gets through their trials as quickly as they can and gets well soon.
I am feeling happier today as my OH has been cleared for a week of working from home. My heart felt about a hundred times lighter just knowing that if anything happens someone is around.
Small things today
1. checked banking
2. Rang council to query why our bin is not being collected.
3. Have made a frugal meal of jacket potatoes and pork mince chilli for the 3 adults and son. I chose pork mince because it was almost half price to the beef in the shop i had to use.
4. Used up some cooked carrots from Sunday lunch in the chilli.
5. Gave OH cash to refuel our friends car that we've used all week. He went to the sainsbos garage so we get nectar points.
6. Should have enough nectar points for a free pack of nappies tommorow which we need.
7. Sorted through son's bag as soon as he came in. Only reading for half term no homework which is a result. Put any paper in the recycling bin that wasn't needed.
8. Have ear marked rest of roast dinner veg to do a bubble and squeak over the weekend.
9. Keeping warm in bed with 'little Owl' which is just nice but also saving on heating
10. Need to take back library books over the weekend (will ask OH) but we should have enough points for a free movie.
Love to all

OH has another cold, which means nobody gets much in the way of sleep, so not feeling that energetic this morning

Today's list:
Feed dog and hens (done)
Cheap breakfast of porridge, HG stewed fruit from freezer and Lidls yogurt
(done)
Fold up washing from airer and put in the airing cupboard Done
Dog walks x 2 Done
Check banks Oops not done yet
HM meals from stores (small gammon joint taken out of freezer to cook today) Done
Do some housework Done, OH helped :T
It seems to be fine outside, so get outside in the garden for an hour again today
Didn't manage this today as it got really cold this afternoon
Any surveys, check FPL Not much today
Bag up CS items and place by front door so they don't get forgotten AGAIN
Done, and I actually took them to the CS when I went out :T
Also managed to:
Do a load of washing and sort of dry it outside (currently on airer)
Small shop for boring things like cold tablets, tissues, Tunes (where is that roll eyes smiley we used to have on here), also loo cleaner, fabric softener (I buy about 2 bottles a year and my current one is on its last legs) and one or two other bits. I got them from Savers, which I think is one of my favourite shops :T
Walked all journeys
Also ordered a new camisole top from ebay, to wear under a couple of very nice Monsoon dresses that I have, whose v necklines are a bit lower than I prefer
I bought these when I was working (used to have quite a Monsoon shopping habit back then, but I could afford it - then). I sold quite a lot of clothes when I finished work, but hung on to these 2. Anyway, £3.29 spent will bring them back into use (old camisole wore out)
Ziggy, I think Mrs F's idea of celebrating the anniversary of your heart attack is a brilliant one. It must have been awful
but you are getting over it, even if progress does seem slow, and that is worth celebrating
Bob, I am so glad to hear that your husband can be around next week, hopefully after that you will be starting to get back to normal

News:
* M&S credit cards are cutting their loyalty rewards. Instead of 1 point per £2 outwith M&S they'll be paying out 1 point per £5. Bad news!
