Friday 12th February - What Small DFW-Style Things Will You Be Doing Today?

Posts: 4,965 Forumite
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

Morning all, :wave:
Greetings from the Sub-Arctic. Just a quick post before work.
* Conquered the frost of the car by covering the windscreen in a shower curtain last night. No de-icer required this morning.
* Did RMS Surveys.
* PayDay so bills paid before any spending.
* Eat a hearty breakfast before work to help stay away from the vendy.
What have you folks got lined up for today?

Good morning everyone, and thanks for the start Ally.
I've woken up in the 'don't want to go to work' mode - even though I'm only today away from half term! DH has a few appointments today and has had a completely sleepless night, so by default I've been awake more than a few times.
We are interviewing at work today so fingers crossed there are some decent candidates.
Here's my list
Check banking and PAD
Use my free time at work wisely
Load of washing
Free feed with the interviewees
Get through annoying jobs at work list
Bring the bare minimum/no work home for half term
Get ds to footy training
Get dd to her new gymnastics class
Plan a day of absolutely NOTHING AT ALL for tomorrow :j:j:j:j
be kind to people
stay drugged up on paracetamol
Can't think of anything else - my brain is entirely focussed on surviving today. :rotfl:Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning Ally, thanks for starting :hello: everyone
Glad it's Friday :j last day of work Cat :j my list for today:
Working at a local venue, will get lunch paid and petrol
Check emails for holiday insurance contact, I bought it last night and it was a bit odd and ended up processing for the wrong dates
it's not expensive but that's not the point. There is a 14 day cooling off period, so it should be fine.
Check banking, update sheet, PAD, double check additional income and incidentals that we are tracking for the first time this month
it's very enlightening
Will do some work tonight when DH has gone to bed pre his night shift for my own business
DH picked up an extra 8 hour overtime shift this weekend in time to get included in next weeks pay :T
One thing off annoying list
Run (didn't manage this yesterday)
Check surveys, prep my RM ones for next week too
Call man about some work to plan in for March
foxgloves wonder how Mr F is getting on with his sealed pot? We opened one yesterday (not solely £2) that had £160 in it
we realised our £2 has been neglected recently - I need it up my game
Have a great day everyone.0 -
Sorry cat we cross posted, realised you weren't quite :j when I read your post. Hope it goes quickly.0

Today, as yesterday, has not started well. The joys of marriage breakdowns
On the upside my list is:

Try not to stress about life
A little bit of housework as we live in a little flat :rotfl:
Stay safe people. Hope everyone has a great day and weekend.

Had a productive day yesterday, done ironing and big food shop for essentials which means we have no reason to moan about food in stores to use. Will only need fresh items weekly so should help me with my food budget and spending for unnecessary things. Oh and my other rug arrived and so far it's helping although moody cow downstairs still glares at me! HeheDMP Started June 20160 -

Morning all!
Today did not start well as apparently I turned my alarm off and woke up at 8.05 when I normally try to leave the house by 8.20! However this in itself turned into a bit of MSE-ing and I made it to work on time!
So today I have/will:-
* No TV on this morning
* Me and OH had a hot drink at the same time so kettle only boiled once
* Load of washing on 30 degree ecowash including OH's top which I soaked overnight as had a stain on
* No make up on :eek: (didn't have time!)
* Check banks
* Check FPL
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Update work expenses
* Sort out laundry
* Do some housework as per flylady thread
Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a good day.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,435.00
Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)0
