FINALLY got connected yesterday. Seems quicker than before, and have just sent off for the MasterCard and Boots card.

Received MasterCard within a couple of weeks of applying, still waiting for the Boots gift card - have sent 2 emails to chase, only received automatic acknowledgement.

Still waiting for the Boots gift card and oh, what a surprise we've been billed £129.99 for the engineer visit to get our internet up and running. Trying to contain my amazement.

Contest it. What was the actual cause of the fault?

From what was described above it sounds like they were running off a sky extension (these things are notoriously poor) not the main BT socket which means Openreach would have forwarded the charge on to BT, then to themselves. Either way the notes from the engineer should shed some light on what was the reason.

Indeed, if the internal wiring was the issue, you're liable for the charge.
  • I have also signed up for this deal & been waiting for the connection/installation but the link seems to have disappeared to claim the MasterCard, could you advise of the link to claim please?
