Why NOT to buy Samsung TV's or Curry PC World's "Whatever Happens" cover policy

I bought a Samsung 40 in, smart TV for my son for Christmas £399.00 from curry's, November 2015. He has been using it on and off since Christmas , 10 weeks. Last week he switched it on and black lines appeared on the right hand side. We sent photos to Samsung and returned the TV to the store but both are rejecting as there is a tiny internal crack on the screen and saying we have damaged the TV. I am wondering if anyone has had the same experience as we have definitely not damaged the TV. I am covered under my house insurance for accidental damage and would claim from them if I felt we had damaged the TV. but we seriously haven't done any damage to the TV.
Please can anyone help, as I am totally frazzled by this experience.0
