From Vodafone to Vodafone

I'm with Vodafone, my 2 year package ends on March 11th, i'very found a good deal for new customers with them, but obviously I'm not a new customer. Can I port my no. to a sim only contract for a month and then be a new customer?

they will probably want to sell you a new number with a new contact , as voda are notorious for being stupid and unhelpful I suggest you port the number to a non VODA PAYG sim for a week or so , getting voda to cancel the old contract , start a new one AND port a number over is just asking too much at one go

they will probably spout " you cant port a voda to a voda number , "sign here" , use a NON voda PAYG sim , for a week or so

Sorry I wasn't very clear, yes I meant port to a different provider for a month, then come back to Vodafone. I'm not sure if a month would be long enough.
  • Yes you can - though the best course of action would be to port to another network and never go back.

I've read that lots of people have trouble with them, I must have been lucky though because it's all been fine and i've had coverage everywhere when others can't get any.

but can they be trusted to set up a new contract AND port your number ?

if your old number has a value greater than £5 , I would port it away to a non voda PAYG sim and re port back later , set your voicemail to tell people to ring your new number for a few days

I think many of their customers would trade coverage for even basic customer care and not the endless other problems Vodafone creates sooner or later for a growing army. I never thought it possible two-three years ago, but they have actually found ways of making themselves worse recently. By the time you discover you're not immune it'll be too late and you'll look forward to two years of hell. But at least you'll have coverage if they don't lose your number or cut you off, even if you can't log on to see your bills - and worse.

Take it from me OP-port away and never look back!

I saw the numerous complaints on here in regards to Vodafone (and thought to myself they've been OK with me!) but something came up and Customer Service was worse than useless.

Lee (the Social Media guy for Vodafone on here) helped me resolve my query but there wasn't really any form of apology for the woefully inadequate customer service.

If it wasn't for the fact I'd be cutting my nose off to spite my face I'd be selling my handset next week and terminating early!

I found Voda inflexible when i wanted a new phone mid contract, I was willing to have the 2 numbers and continue with the old contract adding the new one as an additional number.

Nope cannot transfer the old number to the new phone/contract at all. Nothing offered. New line/number only. Not sure how that compares to others?

I needed the extra minutes etc of the new contract on my phone so i had to change my number and passed the old one onto my daughter.

    Go to http://www.vodafone.co.uk/cancel-account/

Speak to retentions via live chat and say you're thinking of leaving. Simply state you are annoyed you can't get the same deal as new customers and they will most likely give you it as they seem desperate to keep their customers. If they say they can't give you it then just ask for your pac code which you don't have to use any way.

I would advise you to pay a bit more though and switch to a network with decent customer service.
