Morning Lovelies,

Asking for other peoples advice / opinions here. I am thinking about moving my current account from one to another. I have looked at all the other banks (this is now the edited version). I am after a good basic account. Please don't recommend Barclays as the local branch in my home town has the worst staff ever. Attitude central!

So do any of you bank with Virgin? Had any recent dealings with them? I had a Virgin credit card many moons ago but closed it instantly when I found out they were associated with MBNA!! Unethical individuals.

Opinions greatly appreciated. Oh I won't touch Co-op either for the above reasons of MBNA! Filthy mud bloods :rotfl:

Thanks for your time.

What does "I have looked at all the other banks and bring fascinate me the most", mean?

Why does Virgin appeal to you?

The best basic account is probably a FlexBasic at the moment.
What criteria must a provider meet for your august presence?

There are any number of "basic accounts" to be had. Virgin's Essential and Halifax's Basic current account being but two.

I take that you are seeking a "basic" current account because you cannot obtain a normal current account?

What exactly are you seeking to have from this account?
  • No I can get a current account. I do have a current account with Lloyds. I am now in good credit, twas not the case years ago mind you. I was just looking at the idea and was wondering more about brand Virgin as a banking thing. I want to trust them but don't....... So looking for positive or negative feed back about other peoples experiences with them.

I'm struggling on this forum to find anyone who has ever used brand Virgin as a bank. Just curious.

Don't forget you get free tea, coffee and snacks at their Virgin money lounges if you have any account with them.

A very good long term incentive - if there is one nearby to where you live or work. Their two London ones are 30 seconds walk from Clydesdale and Yorkshire's only London branch at Piccadilly circus - so you can combine a trip to both.

What are they offering to make it a worthwhile account?

£150 joining bonus? 5% in credit interest? Something better?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

The coffee and biscuits are nice. When you've said that, you've said more or less everything really.

an incentive, such as the £150 mentioned above, would persuade me to get down there.. ideally if it was payable on each account if you move all of your banking to them:T

i'd be interested to know what "Cash Handling" means on their website.. my local branch offers this. does it mean that there is a counter for depositing cash? or perhaps a coin depositing machine?-that'd be useful.

I'm always interested when someone mentions the ethical credentials of banks. In your research, what banks do you now consider ethical?
