Equifax/Experian Credit Report no Debts on it

Options
Hi

Ive just signbed up to Equifax and Experian to check my credit report as I am considering applying for Bancruptcy but when I've signed up although it has found all my addresses and financial associations it doesnot appear to include any of the debts that I am expecting.

Will this change?

I also tried Equifax and Noddle and neither of them have any debts either!

Why is this... does nayone know...

I was hoping to confirm balances so that I can begin the process of applying for bancruptcy?

If I just leave it does this mean that the debts have been written off?

No. Whether debts appear on your credit files is entirely separate to whether money has been borrowed or is owed.

How old are your debts (when did you default), when did you last make payments to them and who are the creditors.

If its been over 6 years since you made any payment then they could be statute barred (which means can be written off without going through bankruptcy)

The exception is council tax and HMRC debts (which I think also may be excluded from bankruptcy but not 100% on that - they are though criminal debts whereas nothing else can send you to prison)

Unless the OP has acknowledged the debts then the 6 years starts at the date of last acknowledgement.

Agreed - and one of the more obvious (but not the only) ways of acknowledging a debt is to make a payment on it.
  • Thanks for the responses guys .... its been well over 6 years since I made any payment so I will give the time barred a go...
