Another one that picks (not cuts) the sprouts off, always have done, 35 and not dead from it yet! I do this for baked potatoes too, ie skins on, and I can't see where the sprouts were (as someone else mentioned). Not that I've ever looked very hard
.
Green potatoes are a different matter and should be binned.0 -
40 and not dead either. My mil told my OH they shouldn't be eaten but my Mum told me just to rub the sprouts off and eat them-I always take my mum's advice(apart from when it's barking mad,but that's another story

Of course the barking mad bit might be due to eating too many sprouting potatoes :rotfl:0

I use to work on a fruit and veg stall in my younger years and I had to pick off the sprouty bits so we have prob all ate them and just didn't know. and I bet that pre prepared mash in the chiller section in ASDA is made from scabby potatoes0

Current advice is to avoid eating the green bits of potatoes, as they contain aflatoxin and solanine. Whilst these chemicals won't exactly kill you, both can cause nerve damage if eaten in large quantities and aflatoxin falls into a group of agents which have been shown to cause cancer in animals.0
