    I've been Money Tipped!
I think I've mentioned before that my sister keeps her potatoes in her shed in an old suitcase full of soil! Keeps the potatoes very well!

Luckily she doesn't keep case in her house tho as it could be tricky if she needed to pack in a hurry!

Aren't the Lakeland cloth bags simple good old fashioned "cotton"? If they are, I have loads of cotton FQ's laying around ... I'll make my own at a fraction of cost!

I read a tip which suggested keeping an apple in the bag with the potatoes. can't say it made a difference when I tried it but it might work better with smaller quantities than I had.
I just pull off the sprouts if they're not too triffid like. seems to taste OK
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

They're like a hessian/cotton cross. Breathable but keep the light out.

Ours worked a treat ... and now I'm going to have to see if I can find it - and then look for somewhere cool. It was also very cheap, on Lakeland standards.

What spendaholic said. Those bags are good. I always buy mucky spuds put them in my Lakeland bag in the shed and they keep for ages. My elderly neighbour (87) still grows all his own veg and keeps them in old suitcases in his shed or under the bed!!!!

Those potato bags from lakeland are expensive, try a garden centre for hessian bags to store your potatoes or an online garden retaile for instance the organic gardening catalogue has five bags for the same price here. Or make them yourself.

wrong time of year really for keeping potatoes. In the autumn my mum & dad usually buy a 25kg sack of unwashed potatoes and keep them in the garage (cool, dark and dry) in the paper bag (loosely folded down). They will keep for most of the winter if you need them to.

as it gets warmer things don't tend to keep as long, not a lot you can do really..
